Obviously a great result for The Toon. A top four finish is still a long way off but a few shrewd transfers in January and who knows.

Villa result this weekend obviously shows the players downed tools to get rid of Stevie G.

Leicester are one strange team, absolutely dreadful for 90% of the season yet have pulled off two 4-0 hammerings. They've scored more goals than Newcastle who sit 4th!

Aston Villa are close to appointing Villarreal's former Arsenal manager Unai Emery to succeed the sacked Steven Gerrard.
He did excellent with Villareal winning the Europa League and making the Semis in the CL last season. He's still seen as a bit of a joke in England though with his failure at Arsenal.

I don't think he really even failed with Arsenal. Taking over from Wenger was always going to be a huge job and they were on a significant downward trend, and it's taken a long while for his replacement to really get them firing.

Realistically it's about as good an appointment as a team like Villa can make.

Yeh true I just think Spain and England are quite different and don’t think his man to man management is what he needs to work in England, I wish him all the best though to prove me wrong as I think Villa are a huge club!

Newcastle were superb again today. Full marks to the World Cup contenders from England and Brazil
As a Brighton fan, I will always be grateful for what Graham Potter did for the club (unless he emulates Mark Lawrenson and tries to wipe his time at the club from his memory). As a human being, I can understand why he left for a much bigger salary and Champions League football. As a Brighton fan, I am delighted with today's result :yahoo:

Nottingham Forest were okay defensively for part of the first half, but utterly abject in the second, like a deer in headlights in their attempt to dampen Arsenal’s attack and reduced to rubble at the end of the match

Wolves are back in talks with Julen Lopetegui about becoming their new manager after he turned them down last month.

The 56-year-old was the club's first choice following the dismissal of Bruno Lage in October.

However, the former Spain boss opted to remain at home to be near his elderly father.

Looks like a wild game for Leeds against Bournemouth today - going from 3-1 down to 4-3 up!

A bonkers Saturday full stop! Even more so if you play FPL

It's 22 years since Leeds last came back from two goals down to win a game in the Premier League.
Some leggy and slopp performanced in today (despite some of the scores). Hard to know too much as I genuinely think the 6 week break will screw up a lot of teams forms and will give some teams the opportunity to re-set and refresh. I really do feel this is the type of season were Newcastle and Brighton could sneak in the top 4.
