Wherever it ends up it’s an improvement on 2019’s ‘In Stero’ which reached #29 and sold 2,642 which they’ve almost already sold with the new album.

Assuming it continues to sell throughout the week…

Probably won't sell much more than 2.5k, but it should be able to shift another 500 copies surely?

Unfortunately, there was no midweek sales data that I saw for Love in Stereo - that started out at #16 though and ended up at #29.

Hopefully they can manage at least another 500 for the week, if nothing else it should get a higher peak than Love in Stereo.
In all honesty I don't think it's a good an album as 'In Stereo' which I really liked. There are a handful of pretty good songs on it, but there's 3 or 4 fillers on this album which I would happily skip. I'm so here for it being their highest peaking album for years anyway!

From what I've heard of this album it seems more on the level of Ultra Violet than Please Yourself / Drama / Viva when it comes to Duorama albums. Of course, those had some major label funding behind them - as long as it's better than Exotica, I'm ok. I think mixing this and In Stereo would probably create a strong album, I do wish they would get more outside collabs than Ian, but then again, he likely does it for free / a cut of the little profits they make from music.
I think its a much better album than in stereo and there are elements of please yourself album on it ( which is good for me as i love that album) but i like the really snythy pop kind of sound they have on a few of the songs such as stay wild and bad love.

I think they just release music as a bit of fun and side hobby now - they don’t go all out on promo, price cuts, album launch shows, signings etc., to chase a chart position.

They seem happy it was #5 in the mids and they will be equally happy if it enters at #25.

They sold a few albums and sold out both of their London shows and that seems to be enough for them until they return in a few years time again.

If they were chasing chart positions they would've stopped in the 90s or after Drama bombed.

Working with Ian probably costs them nothing and they get to writer, record, sing and perform. They get to hang out and do fun things while earning a bit of cash. I'm sure they're happy that they can score a decent chart position these days, but ultimately, it's just a number and the amount they sell is similar to what they've sold for the past 25 years.

Ya they are definitely in it for the fun and are happy to achieve any success they get although doing a couple of signing is not just helpful for sales, fans get to meet them aswell but im not sure if thats something they have ever really done.

#22! Would've been great if it snuck into the top 20, but still higher than Love In Stereo.

Will be interesting to see how many sales they got since the Monday update :kink:

Disappointed they fell from #5 to #22 but totally expected - they didn’t try anything extra to bolster sales throughout the week, would have been lovely for it to have gone Top 20 but still a great outcome for them.

yes happy/sad it's a great result but a bit bittersweet considering they were #5 in the Mon Mids

but at least they got real sales, not like those fake streams from This is Elton John :/

They claim to be ‘forever young’ on the track of the same name on their new album, Masquerade – but Bananarama actually become the oldest female duo to have a hit album with said set, which debuts at No.22 (3,021 sales). A trio throughout their glory years, Bananarama consists of 60-year-old Sara Dallin and 61-year-old Keren Woodward these days, and Masquerade – originally conceived as an EP to mark their 40th anniversary - is the 13th chart album bearing the Bananarama brand (their fifth as a duo) and their highest charting studio album since Wow reached No.26 in 1987. Their last album, In Stereo, debuted and peaked at No.29 on sales of 2,642 copies in 2019.

Glad it passed the 3k mark at least!

I wonder will they drop out of the top 200 this week.

Probably. I don't see it selling many copies after the first week.
