July 8, 20223 yr boo poor Nadal :/ but yes very very lucky Kyrgios don't really like Fritz, just serve and not much more, if he couldn't beat injured Nadal, he doesn't deserve to be in semis...
July 8, 20223 yr I instantly thought of this meme But yeah that's gutting for Nadal. Hyped to see how Kyrgios does in a final however if it's against Djok (which it most likely will be) I can see him getting torn to shreds unforch :/
July 8, 20223 yr Great for Norrie to take a set but really Djok just started slow. He didn't have a sniff in the next 3 sets. Superb run though and here's to hopefully more! Tasty final, get the popcorn ready.
July 8, 20223 yr A shame for Norrie - still good to see him in the Semi-Finals though. Should be an interesting Men's Final!
July 8, 20223 yr Hopefully it's advantage Kyrgios - he's had more time to rest and recover having not had to play a semi-final, and I see it appears to be 2-0 in his favour when it comes to their head to head (albeit both times they've played appear to be on hard and it was five years ago), would be disappointing to see an easy win for Novak.
July 9, 20223 yr good for her but hilarious that Wimbledon wanted to stop the Russians for benefiting and in the end Rybakina has won, someone who is 100% Russian and only became Kazakhstan citizen 4 years ago after receiving a millionaire offer from the country
July 9, 20223 yr Rybakina winning is obviously an interesting one - personally I don't think it's an issue as she's not competing under the Russian flag, and I imagine unless it had been brought up in the news not many of us would have known she has spent a large part of her life in Russia.
July 10, 20223 yr off topic but looks very easy to become Kazakhstan citizen, you never set foot in the country, have no family roots nothing, they just buy you with a big check and next day you're Kazakhstan citizen here in Denmark it takes 10 years of resident + a Danish test + a test on knowledge of Danish culture...
July 10, 20223 yr What’s the difference between Kazakhstan and Russia though, there are elements of Russian culture there, seems to be a culture between White Russian and Asian. I think it’s stupid how anti Russian England has become anyway. Putin doesn’t symbolise Russian people at the end of the day!
July 10, 20223 yr Looking at the Wiki for the Kazakhstan Tennis Federation, it appears that all of their current players on the tour are actually Russians who have switched over. To be fair to her, all her slams have been with Kazakhstan and it's not like that woman who switched to Georgia just before the tournament. The first set yesterday made it look like it would be an easy straight sets victory for Jabeur but I think she really lost it when she couldn't convert three break points to take it back on serve in the third. Was funny how Rybakina didn't appear to care about winning at all, her reaction was as if it was just the first round she'd got through
