I still think Liz Truss is probably going to get most of the support from the party when her campaign gets going — an heir to Thatcher at a crucial time in history, or something.

Until her anti-monarchy speech gets resurrected again.

I'd rank them from best to worst (not so much in terms of talent as Badenoch is better than Schnapps) in terms of how bad they will be for the country.

1. Tom Tugendhat

2. Grant Schapps

3. Jeremy Hunt

4. Rishi Sunak

5. Penny Mordaunt

6. Savid Javid

7. Nadim Zahawi

8. Liz Truss

9. Kemi Badenoch

10. Suella Braverman

Are we all forgetting how corrupt Hunt is and how much he destroyed the nhs and was in the pockets of the billionaires? Like really?

The bar is so fricking low it's at the earth's core pretty much but my ranking largely based on how badly they willt reat minorities and stoke up division and hatred. I don't think possibly apart from the top 2 there will be any improvement in terms of services and looking after the poorest.

Hunt is an actual politician though, he’s not perfect but he’s probably seen as a safe pair of hands to stop the current rot.

At this stage I’ve no idea who will get it, I feel going in with the tax cuts will be popular with the Conservative members but I don’t think it’s the right thing for the country and nor will it fix the issues we’re experiencing. Feel at this point we will get one Moderate vs a staunch Brexiteer. Wonder who we will see fold first with the promise of the big cabinet job. Imo even though Rishi is the favourite, I feel he is too closely associated with Johnson’s government.

WHAAAT?? HE'S A POCKET POLITICIAN!!!

And they all aren’t? You need to do some research on your favourite politician!

You CANNOT be comparing Bernie and Corbyn to unprincipled f*** wit Jeremy Hunt, the man who HID BEHIND A TREE to avoid his UNETHICAL press meeting from comong to light!!! He destroyed rhe NHs and was used as a Tory attack dog wheb they wanted someone to get their hands dirty, delve into sleaze, and to be bought and paid.

Hunt's far from the worst candidate in the running (although that says way more about just how horrific some of the others are than him), although the fact he wants Esther McVey to be his running mate is seriously alarming.

Liz Truss has now officially entered the race, she whose singular brain cell is still searching for a friend. If she somehow gets this, I will lose faith in humanity completely and permanently.

updated the poll and once the 1922 officially fire the starting gun (probably today I think) I'll restart it.
"INSPIRATIONAL conservatism". f*** off. That's an oxymoron. Conservatism is about holding on for dear life and crying about change. It's about rot and stagnation.

I think a restart would be great on the "Who do you want" poll as the fairytale option of a General Election without a new Tory leader first, although would be every single Buzzjack member's dream (apart from one exception lol) it doesn't relate to the world we're living in as the Tories are not going to voluntarily give up power in a million years.

First off, this is not a public vote. It's a bunch of right wingers voted in by the electorate deciding who is most likely to get them success at the next gen election, and then giving out to the party membership on a choice of 2. What non-Tories want doesn't matter to them, they only care about winning an election so they will go for whoever they think will keep their seats in 2 years time.

So obv they are all going for "tax cuts" as the number one priority to appeal to members and the public. It's a no-brainer.

Not unlike some of the candidates.

Hopefully they might be like neoliberals and scream, PoliCiEs DoN'T MaTtER; PeOpLe WaNt IDenTiTy PoLiTiCs   I've actuslñy had some douche say that to me. He ... swiftly ran away, with no arguments. If they go that route, they'll pick an "anti-woke warrior" and hopefully lose even more support.
and we're now up to 11 with a... who? keep 'em coming honestly

now who will be first to leave?

Anti gay marriage, pro Saudi apologist. Although bizarrely strong on mental health and feline welfare! :gaycat:

And random - there's a gay cat emoji on Buzzjack!

I despise Johnson but this comment he made about the contest made me laugh. Self awareness finally?

There’s a contest under way and it’s happened and I wouldn’t want to damage anybody’s chances by offering my support.

Nadim Zahawi has said he will force all departments to slash spending by 20% to finance tax cuts. The problem is many departments like health and social care are already struggling and barely able to provide a service to meet statutory need so this will only add to the mounting pressures. I am really worried about who will be elected. Hunt seems to be talking the most sense but I fear we will end up with someone like Sunak or Truss who will do nothing to help the lives of ordinary people and just make matters worse.
