July 15, 20224 yr Do you reckon Two Door Cinema Club have been Vaccinated/Everything Everythinged/Kings of Leoned/Arcade Fired/Strokesed/Mused? Most indie bands don't last more than ten years on the R1 Playlist and the song sounds like it could be a better fit for Radio 2, who played them a bit last time round. I bet Cracker Island would get on if it was by a younger/newer act. Still, at least they play it after 6pm. R1's loss is R2's gain! Edited July 15, 20224 yr by HiyaLuv2
July 15, 20224 yr Author Do you reckon Two Door Cinema Club have been Vaccinated/Everything Everythinged/Kings of Leoned/Arcade Fired/Strokesed/Mused? In a word: yes.
July 15, 20224 yr Yeah, Foals will probably be next unfortunately! Thankfully there have been quite a few new indie bands/artists doing well in the last few years to hopefully replace them. Inhaler, Wet Leg, The Snuts, The Lathums, Easy Life, Yard Act, Fontaines D.C., Sam Fender etc.
July 15, 20224 yr Yeah, Foals will probably be next unfortunately! Thankfully there have been quite a few new indie bands/artists doing well in the last few years to replace them. Greg James is ALL OVER Foals so whilst he's on breakfast I don't think that band are going anywhere from their playlist rotation. Coincidentally, Two Door Cinema Club have been added to R2 playlist today :kink:
July 15, 20224 yr I feel Yard Act don't get enough daytime support as they should. Maybe next time. And Fontaines D.C. never seem to get to A-list either. Good that Wet Leg haven't been left for 6 Music to deal alone with though, their songs definitely have the punchy poppiness needed to sound just fine all over R1. Yeah Foals just seem to keep going and going. The fact they switch up their sound a bit every time helps. I reckon they've definitely got another R1 era in them. Edited July 15, 20224 yr by HiyaLuv2
July 15, 20224 yr Guessing Sam Fender will be going C-C-C-OUT with the lead single from his fifth or sixth album in about 2029. Then again I'll be 46 at that point anyway and Radio 2 will be wall-to-wall drum 'n' bass/gangsta rap/garage/dubstep. Or something. Edited July 15, 20224 yr by HiyaLuv2
July 15, 20224 yr Yeh Foals have been given a lot of support for every era since their debut in 2007 and can see one more era for them as all their singles were A Listed!

July 15, 20224 yr Yeah sadly I predict it will be as bland and safe as ever. Would be nice though! They are definitely playing a lot of things they wouldn't have touched five years ago though. I hear a lot of early 2000s garage on there, which is a start! I think the Radio 2 music policy is basically just 'would a typical 50-year-old like this?'. And obviously today's 50-year-old was a mere 27/28 in 2000. Edited July 15, 20224 yr by HiyaLuv2

'Seventeen Going Under' will still be hovering around #55 in the charts then anyway.
July 15, 20224 yr 'Seventeen Going Under' will still be hovering around #55 in the charts then anyway. 2022 charts are insane. He should have had about 10 Top 40 hits by now! At least he got on Top of the Pops. Just had to wait until the festive season. Edited July 15, 20224 yr by HiyaLuv2
July 15, 20224 yr Sam Fender playing his own show tonight at Finsbury Park to 40,000 people with just one Top 40 single shows that the charts now aren’t the best way of judging popularity tbh.

Radio 1 practically had sex with The Man. Then next time around? Pretty much nothing. Suppose they were much further into their career though. And the next lot of material was much more retro. Lindsey Buckingham guitar solos etc. Edited July 15, 20224 yr by HiyaLuv2
July 15, 20224 yr How much is Sam Fender paying people on this forum to keep mentioning the number of people at his Finsbury Park show x Just rename this the Sam Fender career updates forum at this rate
July 15, 20224 yr If Sam had released his material 30 years ago or even 20 years ago he would have easily had a lot more top 40 hits!
July 15, 20224 yr Sam Fender playing his own show tonight at Finsbury Park to 40,000 people with just one Top 40 single shows that the charts now aren’t the best way of judging popularity tbh. If we're going down that route, Led Zeppelin played in front of over 200,000 people in 1979 without a Top 40 single to their name. (OK, they never released any singles...)

That's their fault! Never really respected this "we're too good to release singles/go on Top of the Pops" thing!
July 15, 20224 yr If Sam had released his material 30 years ago or even 20 years ago he would have easily had a lot more top 40 hits! Oh well, he'll sleep well knowing he's had 14 Top 10 hits on my personal chart - not the only chart that doesn't matter/count! Still have faint hopes 'Aye' will be sent to radio. Then again, the lyrics are a bit brutal even if you remove the swearwords. Edited July 15, 20224 yr by HiyaLuv2
July 16, 20224 yr I still think it will, probably replacing ‘Crazy What Love Can Do’ next week. I think you might be right. I'd like to see them both on the A-List as they're both currently in the top 10 but I agree. I think it'll take its place.
