April 26, 20241 yr Because that has been Geri's whole personality for the past 4 years. You are telling me 'I only wear white' Geri doesn't have parts in the documentary filmed at her country manor. Feeding the horses while chatting, or Christian milling around while she says how supportive he was of her doing SW19 and finally playing Wembley. Simple solution to that if it really is the case and bothers her, edit it out. Can't see there been any scenes of them in their own places other than in a room for sit down interviews tbh, this isn't the Beckhams or some other solo entity, it's 5 girls they won't have the time to go across all the girls and their individual lives.
April 26, 20241 yr I know a couple of you on here truly despise everything about her but seriously of late when has Geri not been positive about the group and their legacy? If anything I suspect a date was put in place for them to announce everything but Geri understandably isn't wanting to have the crap with her husband overshadow it.
January 30Jan 30 Seems like the Netflix documentary series is next: https://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/spice-girls-netflix-documentary/Official ChartsSpice Girls could be in line for next Netflix docuseries...The Spice Girls are reportedly wanted for the next exclusive Netflix docuseries. Director David Soutar, the brains behind the recently released Take That three-parter is keen to make another versi...
January 31Jan 31 Author Get on with it, ladies xJudging by Take That's Netflix series though, there's a great possibility that a Spice Girls Netflix series would reveal nothing new and be quite sanitised. Also they might not even need to appear in it (i.e. sit down interviews), Take That's was just voice overs, a mixture of old and new contributions. The main thing about a documentary on Netflix would be getting worldwide attention and an audience of people who may not know the ins and outs, but I could imagine it not ending up being too interesting for the hardcore fans.
January 31Jan 31 Yep. There's nothing left to say; well, there might be, but would probably be the secrets for just the 5 of them/innermost spice circle.
January 31Jan 31 I love TT but the doc was nothing new really and in Italy is not doing great (It's #10).For the girls I'd like to see something more upbeat.
January 31Jan 31 If they are clever, and really want to do a documentary that will get people to REALLY sit down and gorge on, they should:Get the 5 of them in the same room. ENOUGH of individual interviews. Its been done over and over and it is boring! The best version of them, that the public loves, is the group TOGETHER vibing from each other. It is what made them special, so use that! A section of it should be similar to An Hour of Girl Power documentary, where they look at footage from their past and react to it. People love that shit and the 5 of them would be so fun to watch doing that!Get them to actually reveal stuff we don't know that went on behind the scenes. Not only the same story all over again...Use footage we havent seen yet! They have lots from the 2019 tour behind the scenes and promo campaign. Address that tour properly as well, not just the highs but also the lows and behind the scenes drama. Why did they end up cancelling everything after the initial run of shows?Otherwise I am not sure many will care much about this documentary...
January 31Jan 31 A new documentary shouldn’t be a repeat of the giving you everything documentary from 2007. The new documentary should focus on something new. My suggestion would be to focus on the music and the record label/music industry politics. They should highlight their songwriting, which has never been done before. It would be great if the new documentary could give the group some music credibility for once instead of always focusing on their image and style.

I would love them to discuss the process of making the music, for real. How did they come up with ideas, who wrote what, what the producers did...They are so focused on IMAGE and scandal, and style. They need to focus on the music too. Maybe that will make them fall in love with it again!
January 31Jan 31 Author I think the problem (for us) is they likely won't approach a new documentary from the angle of it needing to be different/updated/fresh compared to the 2007/12 versions. Because it probably doesn't need to be for 99.9% of the people who click play on it. I'm pretty certain they'll see this as another opportunity to put out the same old stories (maybe even being lazy enough to use recorded soundbites from years ago), under the assumption that there'll be a whole new audience watching - or simply assuming that people won't strongly recall documentaries that aired approaching 15/20 years ago(!).So, as interesting as these above suggestions are (and what I'd absolutely love to see) I am not going to hold my breath for it. I would be so surprised if they went deeper into specifics that stray too far from "the main beats" of their story. Going over Geri leaving the band, yet not really pinpointing precisely why because their stories are all so mixed up? Undoubtedly. Going deep into any of their personal problems since then? Probably not. Sadly I see them doing the bare minimum and say just enough to hold a general audience's attention. I'd really like to be proved wrong though.
February 1Feb 1 I understand what you are saying and specially if it is a Netflix documentary, I am not expecting much at all beyond what has already been said/done. The Take That documentary falls into that trap - so I hope they learn from it. I don't know... Geri seems like love to talk about how she wrote this and that bit of Stop or Too Much. Melanie has often spoken about how they were quite democratic in how they distributed the vocals and what they were best at, even talking a bit about how they wrote 2 Become 1 and Wannabe. I strongly belive that the way to get Geri involved in a reunion is about the music. She struggles with touring but she craves fame and her ego being fed, and she loved talking. So suggest to her that they should discuss the music this time. Or even better, entice Geri with a studio session for new music. That would make everyone happy (apart from the uglies on Spice Circle who consistently say they don't want new music lol).
February 1Feb 1 They can still focus on their image and major chapters in their story with incorporating how the music was created. The one thing their legacy is missing is music credibility. The main reason why they left Heart management in early 1995 is because they didn’t like the material they were being given. A true manufactured group wouldn’t have been able to leave like they did. It’s so frustrating as a fan because most casuals think they didn’t write their own material. It also would be interesting to hear their take on all the merchandising deals they did which eroded any music credibility they had.

I think they sort of touched on the overexposure before but it would be good to see them discussing how it affected them. There was a clear more to tone down on sponsorship post 1997, and focus more on music. Mel C says so in her book, how she and Emma made a point of shifting the group's focus away from too much merch. They were right to do this, of course and they did do that for a while:touring (which was meant to go for longer if it hasnt been for the pregnancies)performing live more often on TV shows like TFI Friday, Pavarotti live shows, collaborations with other artists - My Strongest Suit, How Does It Feel and the It's Only Rock'n'Roll, etcAll of this while touring and recording more music throughout 1998 before and after Geri left. I think that the shift made Geri feel a bit redundant (her own words!) as she was the Head of Sponsorship after they left Simon, so the shifting dynamics probably affected them a lot behind the scenes. I would love for them to dive in to this, and the recordings in 1999 and why they ditched them.
February 2Feb 2 Did Victoria take over sponsorship from Geri after she left? Anyway, I want a deep dive on their lives post-Simon circa 1997 on how their roles in the band impacted them and also became useful tactics in some area (like Melanie C’s postponing group recording schedules due to her focus on her solo at the time). And they how they felt after they all released solo singles and had to come back as a band that with a Dead-on-Arrvial comeback album.
