England's Dina Asher-Smith has withdrawn from the Commonwealth Games with a "light hamstring strain".

Asher-Smith pulled up with the injury while competing for Great Britain in the women's 4x100m relay final at the World Championships on Monday.

She had won bronze in the 200m at the event just a few days before and she needs "a few days off" to protect the minor problem.

"[There are] no major issues and nothing to worry about," she said.

Asher-Smith came third in the 200m at the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast four years ago.

She also won gold as part of the England 4x100m relay team.

"I feel good but I am in need of a few days off," she wrote on Instagram.

Very excited for the Commonwealth Games - feels like they've sneaked up so quickly! This summer really is one jam-packed with sport, it'll be a quick turnaround for those both at the World Athletics Championships and this.

Defending champion Flora Duffy and World Series leader Georgia Taylor-Brown come in to complete the third of four laps on the bike.

The gap on the rest is big and growing. England's Sophie Coldwell, Scotland's Beth Potter and Canad's Emy Legault are fully 34 seconds back.

I'm still catching up on all the highlights, but it was great to see Yee get a gold on the first day of competition! Nicholas Paul getting a gold in the cycling is a massive one for Trinidad and Tobago (albeit slightly overshadowed by the fact one of the other cyclists is called David Beckham Elkatochoongo!)
It had to happen at some point but still insane to see Adam Peaty miss a medal in 100m breaststroke

England's Katarina Johnson-Thompson edged into a narrow 17-point lead after two events of the Commonwealth Games heptathlon.

The 29-year-old, who won the 2019 world title, was fifth after an underwhelming 13.83 seconds in the 100m hurdles.

She topped the high-jump rankings with a clearance of 1.84m to give her 2032 points in total.

Australia's Taneille Crase is second and England's Holly Mills third on 2000 points.
