Zzzzzz. How many more times are you gonna say this?

I give it to next summer

But we'll all remember the time Elton dueted with a computer and ruined one of his songs

What if one enjoys both BOTA and Hold Me Closer?

What if one doesn't enjoy either of them?

I very much prefer BOTA. ‘Hold Me Closer’ is pleasant to hear, but it is literally nothing new — a Tiny Dancer rehash with a Cold Heart formula. But I hope this gives Britney legs work on and to release something by her own.

Meanwhile BOTA doesn’t sound like your typical dance filler at all to me. And I always loved the sample it uses.

I'm much more here for interesting underground dance music like BOTA breaking through on the charts. The Britney loons have no idea what they're talking about, pulling out adjectives from a hat for this random hate on it.

Faceless, copy paste and "EDM" (!?) would be a more accurate description of the Love Island algorithm dance hits that have been plaguing the charts recently, and not BOTA periodt!!

It's really not that serious if somebody doesn't like a song, anyone would think they'd insulted a close family member or something.

There's a difference between not liking a song and talking shit.

Exactly. Don’t know why we need to jump on someone else for having a differing opinion. Everybody is allowed to have their own likes and dislikes

“Talking shit”, I genuinely dislike the song I’m not going to censor that opinion  I wouldn’t have said another word about it if you hadn’t taken it so personally

Yawn. The whole "I'm allowed to have an opinion!1" argument again. I'm not taking anything personally. I'm just pointing out that when you called BOTA "EDM" among other things, I instantly knew you didn't have a clue what you were talking about.

But how dare it keep Godney from the #1 she is so entitled to have etc. Jog on...

Exactly! So glad we can agree

BOTA is my favourite song to reach the top 40 this year by a hell of a long way. Hoping it can become the first number one I've truly enjoyed since Blinding Lights
I’ll be so mad if Britney’s big comeback is held from #1 by some bland faceless EDM tune

How is it bland? It's got an amazing choice of sample, a true 90s club classic but one that doesn't get rinsed left, right and centre. If anything, it is more distinctive than the "Britney track" (and I use quotes because I see it more as an Elton track than a Britney one)... which let's face it is basically Cold Heart pt II and as per most sequels it's an inferior version of the original.

I personally dislike it. It’s not to my taste and, in my opinion, sounds like a million other dance tracks Radio 1 love to hammer. I prefer the Britney track and would prefer she got to #1 and became (correct me if I’m wrong) the first woman to reach #1 in 4 decades in the UK.

Music is subjective. I’m not jumping on anyone for liking BOTA but I’m not going to withhold my opinion and disappointment if Britney doesn’t get #1. A lot of people have criticised Hold Me Closer on here and I haven’t said a word because I really don’t care about anybody else’s opinion all that much.

Well that's fair enough - I'm more than happy for us to have opposite opinions and settle on that... I am kinda intrigued to see how well the Elton/Britney track does because if Elton can score two big hits using this formula then I'm wondering if it could open up the floodgates for other older acts

She would be, but all of her #1s to date are miles better than this imo and I would rather she achieved this with a better song

This is MUCH better than Scream & Shout lol
