Considering Bryan Adams' comments about the origin of the title, I can see why you might leave out Summer of '69, but Disco 2000 is a no brainer and personally I think Spirit of '76 by The Alarm is great and should be in.

Otherwise it's between Prince or Zager and Evans

edit - Honestly thought Bryan Adams got higher than #42 as it was always on the radio back then

Hadn't expected Prince to be leading after 40 votes as I thought Charli XCX (feat. Troye Sivan - unintentionally left him off the credit) would be ahead by now.

I did consider 1998 as a separate option to Binary Finary's 1999 as I thought some would prefer it, though they're essentially the same tune. Disco 2000 didn't come up in my search for some reason (even though Gorillaz -19/2000 did), but I suppose that and '74-'75 meet the loose definition. I wasn't sufficiently aware of the Alarm song. I thought the Feist song had commas in the title, nice try though. I don't think anything else mentioned made the Top 40.

If '74-75 was there I'd have gone for that above anything else - one of my all time faves, what a song
Yeah another shout out for ‘74-‘75

Went for:

New Order

James Blunt (one of his best)

Smashing Pumpkins

Binary Finary

Prince

Anne-Marie (great song - not sure why it gets such a hard time)

Busted
