Robbie Williams Netflix documentary: Everything we know about new series

British pop icon Robbie Williams is the latest music star to get the documentary treatment via a new four-part docuseries that’ll soon be making its way to Netflix. The singer-songwriter has had quite the career since he first landed on the scene with Take That in the early 1990s. After rising to pop stardom alongside his bandmates Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, Mark Owen and Jason Orange, Williams went on to carve out a hugely successful solo career, bringing his pop prominence to new heights. Along the way, he secured seven UK number one singles and multiple album releases that went on to become all-time best sellers— but the journey wasn’t without its turbulence. With Netflix’s new docuseries, the singer’s story will finally be told: warts and all.

Here’s everything we know about it so far…

When will the Robbie Williams documentary be released !

News of a Netflix docuseries focusing on Williams dropped in early September 2023, with the streamer revealing that the as-yet-untitled show will be available to view later in the year. Despite this tease, Netflix has yet to reveal an official air date, so we have to wait a while before Williams is here to entertain us.

While we don’t know when to expert the docuseries, we do know that it's in good hands. The four-part mini-series will be directed by Joe Pearlman, the same filmmaker behind music doc Bros: After The Screaming Stops, and produced by Asif Kapadia, the director of the critically acclaimed Amy Winehouse documentary Amy and racing epic Senna.

What happens in the Robbie Williams documentary !

With the docuseries still in production, it’s not crystal clear what we can expect to find in the finished product. However, if the show’s official synopsis and early trailer is anything to go by, we can likely expect this examination of Williams’ life and career to cut no corners while chronicling the pros and cons of a life spent in the limelight. According to Netflix, their Robbie Williams documentary series will give viewers “unprecedented access” to the singer’s personal life alongside an “intimate look at his career” — one that has spanned three decades.

Is there a trailer for the Robbie Williams documentary !

There is — and it doubles down on the topics hinted at in the series’ description. Throughout the brief, 40-second teaser, we see clips of Williams at various stages of his career - from the young man who started out back in 1990 and the accomplished singer who conquered mammoth crowds at Knebworth in 2003, to more pensive moments of the singer captured in present day. “The thing that would destroy me has also made me successful,” says Williams via voiceover, foreshadowing the drama that’s to come. “All of these things have given me my career but there’s also a detrimental side to it too,” he adds.

Netflix four-part Robbie Williams documentary will air in late 2023.

So the David Beckham bio on Netflix is receiving a load of publicity and good reviews.

I've not watched it but have seen a lot of rehashing of it in the online press today.

I have not watched it yet Laura . Lots of similar series on at the mo . Rob's expected November or so they say

David Beckham is one of these persons who receives a lot of sympathies despite his tax row, cheating accusations. He managed to be the good father and husband in the public conscious who also made the money to live the good life. And it seems he is nice.

I doubt that Rob's documentary will have so many positive headlines. The press like to treat him polarized and controversial and so is the general public. in times when everyone has a mental health problem this is not of that kind of interest anymore than when Rob started to talk about it a long time ago. (and honest to say some of his online postings seem quite weird to me :-) )

Although I've seen the DB documentary - also called this - I had to look it up =have not heard of the word before.

I doubt we can accuse RW of this and I'm glad he's warts and all ;)

What an amazing poster! So many meaning of that picture style...

I like it so much.

The rumours are true... Nov.8, come on!

So I'm three quarters of the way through the Beckham biopic and enjoying it very much.

It's got me wondering who else will be contributing to the RW biopic.

I hope Gary/Mark do.

I hope both his Mum and Dad do.

It's such a shame but I guess JW won't. One of the people who would have the biggest insight into Rob.

I hope Guy Chambers does and they show footage of David Enthoven.

Sounds intriguing although I think we all know it's going to be dead honest.

It's going to be fascinating but I do wonder how Joe Public will take his honesty?

I wonder if they'll "get" him ?
