Kiiara) - Heavy 36 ** 146 Imagine Dragons - Believer It's bad news for Lorde and Portugal. The Man who both take huge tumbles from last year's top 20 meaning that their songs will need to be nominated next year to challenge again. After somewhat surprisingly reaching the AQ zone last year, one of Justin Bieber's more forgotten big hits 'Friends' takes a tumble back to a position more typical for it. For four Taylor Swift tracks seemingly just her base was here to help them, with three of these right next to each other from #46-48 and the other at #60. It means she won't have any songs joining the few she already has in the final. Of those, LWYMMD falls from the AQ zone. Also leaving guaranteed qualification to next year are songs from DJ Khaled, Martin Garrix and Katy Perry. Meanwhile Gareth Emery gets a surprisingly high finish with 'Saving Light', mostly thanks to three of us ranking it in the top five (including myself) accounting for over half its total. The song will be familiar to those of you who were in the Buzzjack Song Contest at the time but if you're not then I recommend you check it out and perhaps it could gain the one more fan it needed to AQ for the next year. Muna who coincidentally were in the very same contest (finishing in 2nd to Emery) also appear in the region at #56 with 'I Know a Place', gaining some support from last year. Despite being the biggest streaming song in history no-one cared enough to nominate 'Shape of You', but his other hit 'Castle' got another chance this year and narrowly cracks the top 40. Imagine Dragons also enter in the region with 'Believer', however they lose out to Post Malone with 'Rockstar' on tiebreak (good), as does Linkin Park who have a boost this year with 'Heavy'. Next Year's AQs... ^_^ 35 47 146 Post Malone (feat. 21 Savage) - Rockstar 34 39 149 Lana Del Rey - Love 33 21 149 French Montana (feat. RAYE) - You Don't Know Me 23 14 188 CamelPhat & Elderbrook - Cola 22 13 189 Calvin Harris (feat. Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry & Big Sean) - Feels 21 28 190 ZAYN (feat. Sia) - Dusk Till Dawn Alongside 'Rockstar' we have another great song AQing for next year in 'Places' from Martin Solveig, up to 28th. Also great to see Drake moving up a tier with 'Passionfruit' (shame his more recent material going for a similar sound fell a bit flat). Enough of the indie crowd voted this year to ensure alt-J's position in the AQ zone with '3WW'. Adele and Lana Del Rey also move up a tier. Little Mix lose a track from the semi-finals with 'Reggaeton Lento', however their better 'Touch' moves up to replace it. It's not all a net positive however as we lose three excellent dance tracks from the semis in 'You Don't Know Me', 'Cola' and 'Feels'. Although, none of those made it all the way to the finals last year. Semi-Finalists  20 38 193 Kendrick Lamar - Humble. 19 06 198 Arcade Fire - Everything Now 18 35 199 Kesha - Praying 17 10 201 Calvin Harris (feat. Frank Ocean & Migos) - Slide 16 08 215 Wolf Alice - Don't Delete The Kisses 15 22 219 Disciples - On My Mind 14 12 224 Paramore - Hard Times 13 15 228 Avicii (feat. Rita Ora) - Lonely Together 12 26 232 Little Mix - Touch 11 30 232 Kygo & Selena Gomez - It Ain't Me 10 20 239 Miley Cyrus - Malibu 09 09 246 Camila Cabello (feat. Young Thug) - Havana 08 19 255 Lorde - Perfect Places 07 31 267 Carly Rae Jepsen - Cut To The Feeling 06 07 289 Harry Styles - Sign of the Times We do however get some great tracks entering the top 20 and thus getting a chance at cracking the final. It takes a lot for a rap track to make it through but Kendrick just about proves himself here with 'Humble.' starting off the list of semifinalists. To also somewhat make up for the previous losses we have Disciples and Kygo moving on up as well. For the pop fans, Kesha and Carly Rae will also have a chance this year. 'Slide' was in danger of sliding out but just about avoids the same fate as 'Feels'. Arcade Fire lose a fair bit of ground this year too but just about hold on to join 'Reflector' in the semis. Lorde gets a big boost with 'Perfect Places' to make up for 'Homemade Dynamite' losing momentum. Miley Cyrus also climbs big to reach the top 10 and we even get a small climb for Avicii too yay. Direkt Till Finalen :yahoo: 05 04 350 Dua Lipa - Be The One 04 03 360 Dua Lipa - New Rules 03 05 369 Clean Bandit (feat. Zara Larsson) - Symphony 02 02 373 Rita Ora - Anywhere 01 01 433 Lorde - Green Light It's the same old story for the top five however with these five remaining fairly set in stone as the big takeaways of 2017. Last year they were all non-movers but we now have the somewhat exciting movement of Clean Bandit leapfrogging the two Dua Lipa tracks into 3rd and almost catching Rita Ora. Lorde has a 60 point lead this year, a big improvement from last year's 26 point lead.
September 1, 20222 yr '3WW' becoming an AQ? :w00t: that almost makes up for 'Every Other Freckle' never making waves in this (both of them were +30 songs for me *.*) Ouch 'Homemade Dynamite' crashing this year :( although 'Perfect Places' vaulting up to the top 10 is a much better sight where Lorde is concerned. On top of her crown remaining for 'Green Light', of course! and 'The Louvre' is unsurprisingly my my best performing nomination, with the others bombing in the 80s (a 7 place rise for 'JUNKY' though, small victories)
September 1, 20222 yr I wonder if the dropoff for 'Everything Now' may have been impacted in any way by the news from this week... (it's a pretty good song but I definitely felt less inclined to include it in my votes this year after giving a few points last time). Much better results here than your last round anyway, 'HUMBLE.' going from not even AQing last year to being a semi-finalist this year we love to see :cheeseblock: and good to see 'Touch' regaining a place in the semis (shocking it missed out last year!) as well as 'On My Mind'. And yes that's a lovely surprise to see '3WW' gaining AQ status this year  although guessing without looking back that it's literally just up there from like 6 people ranking it fairly highly :kink: (which would still be more than I'd have predicted tbf!) Fab to see 'Passionfruit' and 'rockstar' climbing into the AQ zone as well. Curiously mixed results for the Lorde tracks here - 'Green Light' as strong as ever and a big rise for 'Perfect Places' but conversely pretty tragic drops for 'Homemade Dynamite' and 'Liability' :snif:
September 2, 20222 yr Great to see Humble and It Ain't Me surging into the semi-finals! Also happy with Passionfruit and Rockstar sneaking into the AQs this time, very nearly joined by Linkin Park which would have been a great surprise. And also very pleased with how well DNA did too on its first year, almost top 50!
