My favourite Enya single and one of the best of 1995, such a beautiful song. The chorus is magic, as is the final minute or so 'I might be near...the end!'

I bought it. Overplayed it. Now it's not in my Best of Enya playlist.

Not to be confused with the Ronettes' song of the same name and in the same genre. It was the 11th best selling song of 1992 in Belgium.

It was co-written by Lenny Kravitz who knew how to do retro.

It didn't outsell any number 1s in 1992.

21- Roy Orbison - I Drove All Night

Another song from 1992. Roy recorded this in 1987 but was not released until 1992. It was a hit in the interim for Cyndi Lauper. Both reached number 7 in the weekly charts but Orbison's version finished 23 places higher in the end of year charts.

This is great. I'd not really listened to it since 1992. His voice is not forced, even for the long notes and there are lots of them.

It didn't outsell any number 1s from 1992.

Absolutely LOVE Roy’s version of I Drove All Night. Uplifting, euphoric track and his voice is so smooth on it.
Fairly sure of what the 1 song from 1999 and 3 from 1998 will be, also the 1 from 1996. Could probably guess some of the 4 from 1997 but can't remember all of what's already come up, and feel like I should be able to deduce the 1 from 1994 but haven't yet - before that, I have less of a clue since I didn't follow the charts at the time.
I'm not surprised 1997 has the most remaining. I'd guess they are all from the incredibly high sales climate of Q4 that year.

You might think so. But the latest release date of any of the 4 was 30th August 1997.
I assume that the biggest #8 song of the 90s is still to come and I think that was early 97
That Utah Saint track is great and I'll always remember the chart (and the subsequent Top of the Pops) when I was just a kid when it entered. That chart had Prodigy's 'Charly', Oceanic's 'Insanity' and this entering. To have these 3 very different, futuristic rave tracks enter that same week really shook the charts up! Even Zoe's new entry that week was notable as it was popular at festivals due to the remix. Very exciting times.

I agree with every word of that - I never really loved Enya tracks and even though this was probably her most catchiest/most repetitive it had a magical, trance like quality.

I remember listening to that chart too.

Think I know the 4 left from 1997 now. I already had that #8 in mind, but there was another #8 in mid-1997 which hasn't come up yet, then a song which charted at a similar time to Mo Money Mo Problems. The one Colm mentioned above wasn't on my radar but seems obvious now I think of it.

Is this because you have good knowledge of the End of Year charts?
I'm just basing it how they did in the weekly charts - I can only recall the EOY top 40s for these years (well may have seen the 1996 & 1999 top 100s a long time ago, but can't remember much about them).
