I'm really disappointed D: It's not terrible but it's giving me False God/Dress/Delicate the album and that kind of thing is just never really my vibe. Karma, Anti-Hero, You're On Your Own Kid and Lavender Haze are great though. Vigilante Shit stands out as a grower too but I think it will be divisive. By no means is it bad like I said, I just am never a fan of this subdued electropop sound but it's kind of what I expected. Sweet Nothing is lowkey one of her worst songs ever oop. Maybe it will be a grower as it's a more subtle album but at the moment this is the least I've enjoyed an album since debut...

 

Oh my! Not long until I can listen. Getting a feel of the sound of it from the comments of people who have listened. I think I’m gonna like it.

Those 3 songs you compared it too are 3 of her most underrated and underappreciated tracks, imo! So I'm excited. Gutted you didn't love though </3

I hate to say it but I am not loving this album on first listen, I do think Anti-Hero is for sure the best choice as the lead single though, it's definitely the strongest. Anti-Hero is the only song that stands out to me... the rest of the album is all very average IMO. Even some of the lyrics are shocking by her standards, "Karma is a cat purring in my lap cause it loves me" like, WTF? Hoping it will grow on me, to be fair I didn't like Reputation at all initially but I grew to really enjoy it. Waaah, I'm sad, I really thought I was going to love it instantly after hearing the 10 second clip of Anti-Hero yesterday!

Still so excited though! If it is somewhere between 1989 and Reputation then I am going to be obsessed.

I have to say, I find it a bit of a relief that I've seen these comments in here saying they're "disappointed" in it or whatever. Coz as hyped as I still am, I've kind of lowered my expectations way down now so I'm hoping it helps my first listen of it!

 

Basically thanks to those of you who "took one for the team" and listened before I got a chance to ahahaha!

 

(But this is also why singles before albums MATTER, man! :( - so we can grow to love the singles and know what kind of sound to expect etc..)

popjustice is always a place of doom and gloom, they spent the entire 'Lover' album era complaining the album should be full of

'False God' and then they get it and they complain. I think they would honestly be happy with a 'We Are Never Getting Back Together' sound

Very intrigued by the mixed comments that I have read on here. Some of the sounds/songs that are being criticised are actually some of my favourite Taylor Swift sounds/songs. But feeling a little uncertain by some of the other comments. It has definitely lowered my expectations too. Guess I’ll just have to wait and see!!

So I listened to the leak...

 

 

I'm actually really underwhelmed, I just expected more. However, saying this I feel it can have potential to grow on you.

 

My current favourites:

 

Snow On The Beach, Anti-Hero, Midnight Rain, Question...

 

The rest i'm finding kinda blah - I'm really shocked as I always love Taylor's music.
