Lol @ the Sam/Kim song being so divisive, personally I think it's brilliant. A nice change from the usual snoozefest ballads we've come to expect from Sam. I got #1 vibes from it on first listen tbh.

i know they have been building buzz on tiktok for ages but really fail to see the appeal

Oh my at Unholy having such a strong start, TikTok preview hype is really bringing back nostalgia of the heldback release era!

If it did go #1 next week that would be the second in a row after I'm Good that's been promoted as a Tiktok sound for some time before release and got high debuts as a result.

 

I've been thinking for a while that this could become much more common given it's basically the closest thing we have to held back releases now.

It'll be interesting to see how Tate and Mimi's new ones do as they've also been promoted on Tik Tok for a while. Probably more similar to Anne-Marie rather than Sam/Kim I'd imagine.

I'm sure it's now number 1 on AM, and sure on Spotify it can come as 600-700K. I'm intrigued again!

'Unholy' has gone in as high as #4 on US Spotify as well - the power of being teased on TikTok for literal months I guess.

 

DBE usually do really well on Apple as well of course so that chart could look very different whenever it gets around to unfreezing. Most intrigued to see where Stormzy is with it being an uncommercial song dropped with zero warning - looks like there's been quite a bit of buzz about the cameo-packed music video already though.

I am under the impression that 'Unholy' was around on the app in snippet form for a lot longer than either of those (partly because its release was delayed a couple of weeks due to the Queen dying but still).

Sam posted that in 24 hours the song reached 10m stream On Spotify. We know it’s 3M now on the counter which means that when a lot of time left ( especially US) time, the song did already 7M streams in 16 hours second day. Impressive!
