Posted September 2, 20222 yr I wasn't expecting this one to sneak into the top 40 this week :o Afro Beats seem to be having a good time over the past year or so and this is no exception with Oxlade hailing from Nigeria. I'm pretty sure this is the first time any of the 'A Colors Show' videos have made the top 100 in the chart. We've had hits for Daily Duppy, Plugged In and A Colors Show now! 1pDQjwaH3qk
September 3, 20222 yr A COLORS SHOW isn't quite the same format as Daily Duppy and Plugged In, they're normally just live performances of existing songs as far as I'm aware - this one seems to be an exception though in that there doesn't appear to be a regular studio version of the song. (I noticed he did upload a lyric video on his own channel which doesn't have the 'A COLORS SHOW' tag but unsure if it's just using the same audio or not, if it is a different recording then that version isn't on streaming). Nice song anyway. By my count I believe he's now the 7th Nigerian artist to have a top 40 hit in the last year (along with BNXN, Burna Boy, CKay, Fireboy DML, Tems and WizKid) with a further 5 6 having had top 100 hits (Asake, Lojay, Omah Lay, Pheelz, Rema and Sarz)! In the same timeframe we've also had a top 40 hit by 2 Ghanaian artists (Amaarae and Moliy). edit: just realised that Rema who entered the top 100 this week is also Nigerian, added to the list. (he had a charting song before but a bit over a year ago)
December 8, 20222 yr Author Obviously inspired by the success of the Selena Gomez version of Calm Down, a Camila Cabello assisted version of this is coming tomorrow. @ 1600624420116111360
December 9, 20222 yr i wasn't keen on this when it played on the chart show, i found it quite boring and annoying (one of the only afrobeats songs to make the top 40 that i actively disliked), but i listened to the camila remix today and i actually quite like it!
