It's been leaked that we're getting a Madonna release titled 'Danceteria' for Record Store Day Black Friday in November. Rumours are its early Madonna demos that weren't allowed to be used on the 'Pre-Madonna' album released in 1997 by Stephen Bray.

Release Date: 11/25/2022

This vinyl reissue celebrates the 40th anniversary of Madonna’s debut single, “Everybody,” released on October 6, 1982. Originally produced by Mark Kamins, the single includes 12” and dub versions of the track, both newly remastered. Also features brand new sleeve artwork, exclusive to this anniversary release.

LOVE the new artwork!

I love the image chosen, not so much the text. Glad we're finally getting somewhere with the 40th anniversary festivities and releases!

I'd have preferred the albums to be getting the focus but this is better than nothing.

^ same text as original single

i love artwork too

This will sound very picky but it's just an observation, not a criticism. While the fonts on the new cover are a pretty close recreation, they're not completely identical.

There's something a bit cleaner/sharper looking about the 'Everybody' font on the new cover compared to the old one. The new font has some thicker strokes, which to me is most noticeable on the 'V' and 'Y'.

The 'Madonna' text, a main difference is the shapes/sizes of the gaps in the letters 'D' and 'O'.

The 'M' and 'N' differences are easier to explain with these images:

Anyway, forgive me for this geekiness. I love that picture used too!

Thanks for that Jay! The new text is subtley different and especially on the black and white image it's far too jarring and dare I say it garish. I am not complaining though as it's a minor point on an otherwise stunning image. Very nostalgic and retro!

I'm a bit non-plussed. I want an album campaign, not re-releases of early singles. And when I say album campaign, I'd ideally like it to just skip the debut and Like a Virgin and kick off with True Blue :kink:

This is one of my favourites from her debut album. I love the production - those wobbly synths, the bass; it's so cool sounding yet has such a rawness to it, really transports you to a dark, dingy nightclub. Madonna's vocal is so expressive and confident and the lyrics are so catchy and act as a blueprint to many future Madonna singles.

I always assumed she started out a lot younger, it's mad to think she was actually in her mid-20s when she released her first single!

I agree, especially when you consider other female artists like Kylie, Britney, Whitney, Mariah, Janet etc. were teenagers/very young 20s when they released their first singles (plus it would still be a couple years yet for Madonna to properly make it big). Not that mid-20s is old by any stretch, but we all know the pop industry is one that favours younger acts, particularly for females.

every live version is a 10 !!

All great but Stuart Price’s 2005 mix is far and away my favourite, one of my top Madonna song reinventions! Tbf everything Stuart touches turns to gold. I’d love for them to work together again.

Happy birthday to where it all began! Can't believe each era is going to gradually be celebrating its 40th over the next few years. This is a bop even after all of these years.
