April 25Apr 25 Caught up now. Even though I knew what was coming, it still hits when Joel realises what's coming. I get some of the slight character deviances (loved the battle of Jackson, which doesn't happen in the game) but not too sure I was a fan of Abby and Joel's monologue before the golf club. Perhaps audiences would be miffed why she killed him, but interesting they revelaed that so early.I'm interested to see what they do with Tommy's character from here on in.
April 25Apr 25 Yeh Tommy hasn’t really had a huge part thus dar but setting him up a lot more this series.

Just incredible - you can certainly you tell Game of Thrones director Mark Mylod worked on it.It was fantastic, best for me since TWD Series 7:1 in 2016!What’s the craic with the big mad string mushrooms that are hard to kill?? Are they people?

It's just a different stage of the infected. There's another stage which might show up this season which is similar and the big one which will probably show up in Series 3.

April 28Apr 28 Interested to see what happens in the last 3 episodes (considering from the reviews they've told us about the focus of 1 ep). There's a lot of different gameplay moments still to come if the Season ends where I think it will.Lots of foreshadowing in the script this week for what's to come in the future and that darn porch!
May 3May 3 Love to see the episode 2 reactions from those who aren’t aware of what happens in the game :’)
May 4May 4 Yeh was a lot more of a build up than an action episode. I watch it with the wife who doesn’t like it as much as me so watch it on sky plus myself properly then she watches it with me in the latter half of the week 🤣
May 5May 5 Liked the fourth episode, a bit slow for my liking but enjoy the actor who was in James Bond and we got some infected action. Why is there no infected everywhere in the cities?

Why is there no infected everywhere in the cities? When you learn more about the WLF you'll realise why. The Isaac bits are important but as a character he's not as important this season. Suspect those scenes were to set up a different part of the story which is purely speculation on my behalf and will make no sense to you yet, as there's been zero hints of it yet through Ellie and Dina walking in Seattle. On a show level, I always found the Ellie/Dina a weaker narrative part, but it made sense. They made some nice changes to combine everythng in the show, but I thought the writing was a bit stretched. They did a good piece of building up the tension but I don't buy Dina's reaction to the situation. Just found that whole exchange really lazy writing along with the space stuff. I know why they did that line, but it feels very forced.Loved the Take On Me scene though. Hope we get the Pearl Jam song at some stage :D Although the show version of Ellie is nowhere near as messed up as the game version of Ellie.

I love all the worldbuilding and development they've done with minor characters, or with new characters who didn’t exist in the game, but I feel it’s come at the expense of the main story

I can imagine it’s difficult as when we play the game we have 30 hours with these characters and we see things through their eyes only. But yeah, knowing what’s to come, this version of Ellie is nowhere near the lost, broken, depressed and hateful Ellie of the game. So if they follow the same path, the development seems a bit off.
May 12May 12 Hmmm loved the hospital scene, but I'm really not liking how they have written Ellie's character this season. We got a glimpse at the end, but I don't know, it seems a bit disjointed to me. We've gone from happy go lucky to stone cold killer within the space of about 12 hours. Dina seems the one hell bent on revenge rather than Ellie. Just seems bit off putting. And with the dialogue too, I feel like they are taking the audience as stupid as they spell out a lot about character's motivations and foreshadowing through the actions.Massive tease of Future Days. So glad they ignored the time lore and will actually be including that. Oh and can't wait for the return of the hospital in Season 3

Oh and can't wait for the return of the hospital in Season 3 I have to agree — I’m not sure if that’s because I know (and adore) the source material, or if it’s due to poor writing. Bella was fantastic in the hospital scene, so it’s not a criticism of her performance. Ellie’s descent into anger and grief, and her fixation on revenge, hasn’t really come across well. It feels rushed — my usual complaint. The whole story just needed more time. With a flashback episode and then a finale that’s going to cover a lot (and feel like a lot), everything is moving too quickly — but a lot feels unsubstantial, too, somehow. I feel a bit silly because I’ve hyped up the second game so much, and they haven’t really nailed it. That said, narratively, this season has confirmed how much stronger the second half of the game is (for me). I'm excited for that in the third season — the locals are in for a treat with the set pieces alone

I'm excited for that in the third season — the locals are in for a treat with the set pieces alone I honestly think it is down to poor writing. The material Bella Ramsey is being asked to work with is not great. It’s almost like they listened to the criticisms about the lack of action, zombies etc. and shoe horned these things in. From what I’ve read Neil Druckman was a lot less active this season and it really shows. It’s difficult as I’m like you, the 2nd game is probably the most narratively complex material to write. It’s a challenge to adapt and you can tell Craig Mazin loves the source material.I’ll be interested to se how they work the flashbacks in, they work so well in the game as everything is emotionally raw and noticeably they happen before big set pieces. But yeah for the story to work, Ellie is not at that piece of her journey. Maybe that Dina conversation is what tips her over the edge but it’s bonkers to see her as a love struck teenager.
