Whoops we have another case of a song that should be played in the main playlist that we already played as a bonus a few weeks ago (The Beautiful South - You Keep It All In) - I'm not going to play it again so if anyone wants a different song from 'Welcome To The Beautiful South' as a belated bonus I can play that instead, otherwise I'll just skip it.

Shouldn't the track choice be from Carry On Up The Charts?

Shouldn't the track choice be from Carry On Up The Charts?

No, that's the album 'You Keep It All In' is now canonically played from, after originally being a bonus from 'Welcome To The Beautiful South', hence why I'm asking for a replacement bonus track from that. (It makes sense in my mind :kink:)

Tracklist is ready now anyway, covering 42 albums this week (43 including The Beautiful South) taking us up to June 1995. Lots of great stuff this week for those who are able to make it!

from Welcome to the BS I really like I'll Sail This Ship Alone

Sounds like the year end rundown is on New Year’s Eve so fine for this to go ahead on New Year’s Day.

I really like the idea of having a Christmas themed session but I guess people will be otherwise occupied.

Ah cool - yeah I'll be happy to return to this on New Year's Day then!

(I should personally be free on Christmas Day as well as far as I'm aware but I just assume most people will probably have other stuff going on).

Will post the tracklists for the last 2 weeks in a bit, I was going to yesterday evening but ended up being occupied by BJSC results x

Unless people want to do a Xmas session not on Xmas day? Maybe on Christmas Eve if people are free for a couple of hours?

I was thinking of playing the highest charting Xmas themed song from every Xmas chart if people are interested?

Cool so provisionally let’s say a bit earlier 1-4? But open to suggestions :)
Merry Christmas all and thanks for being such a big part of my Sundays this year! Long may it continue. :bounce:

I will prematurely suggest Salva Mea for the Maxi Jazz RIP slot now presuming that Insomnia and God Is A DJ will get plays through their two number one GH albums (I’d also be happy with We Come 1)

As for Terry Hall, Ghost Town is my favourite of what I know of The Specials but that was obviously a number one hit so I’d suggest A Message To You Rudy.

I'd vote for We come 1

The most streamed songs on the two Faithless GH albums are God Is A DJ and We Come 1. I think Insomnia has a smaller figure because it's only the nine minute version which is on those albums.

So I think we should take the opportunity to hear Insomnia next Sunday.

From Terry Hall, I like Thinking Of You the best but I'm happy to go with Gangsters as it should really be a Specials song.

Thanks for checking that Rollo as I had also assumed 'Insomnia' would be getting a play from one of the two greatest hits albums anyway, but indeed the version with 119 million streams (their most streamed song on Spotify) is not actually included on either of them. I'd like to play 'Insomnia' in that case unless people genuinely would prefer a different song anyway.

The Specials songs that I'm most familiar with are 'Ghost Town' and 'Free Nelson Mandela' but obvz the former is a #1 and the latter was released after Terry Hall left the band so would not make much sense to play.

Hopefully those will remain the only 2 RIP slots by this time next week.

(also whoops still haven't got around to posting those last two tracklists, let me finally do that now, in lieu of having a new session today )

I didn't actually write down the bonus songs played so I hope I've remembered them all! (Was The Stranglers the only RIP slot in week 11? It's the only one that was mentioned in the thread but I feel like there may have been a second one, but could just be confusing it with last week when we did have 2)

New Year's resolution is definitely to make sure I post these in a more timely manner again :kink:
