😅😅😅 Oh that could be awkward! As Kylie has dual citizenship, PP has just made it through to the final to represent the UK at the same contest!

 

The same thing happened last year though, and in the UK ‘A Second To Midnight’ was beaten by Harry Styles ‘As It Was’ to represent the UK, but was selected to represent Australia instead. In the end, the competition was cancelled, as three (I think) countries including the UK boycotted because of the nature of the Russian entry taking part.

 

Because there is an approximately 18 months release date window, As It Was is in the running to represent the UK again!

 

 

Seems to me that all 4 will be on ACR next week - let's celebrate :cheer:

Taylor Swift - Cruel Summer, 5. Peggy Gou - (It Goes Like) Nanana, 6. Hannah Laing - Good Love, 7. D-Block Europe - Pakistan. Then it's a question of whether any of the Taylor Swift - Speak Now (Taylor's Version) tracks will outsell Padam Padam, and/or new D-Block Europe tracks do anything significant.

 

Hopefully a return to the Top 10 can happen, but my ongoing desire for it to get to #7 looks ever so unlikely. It's just a shame that next week, Padam Padam will likely be higher than React, Dancing Is Healing, As It Was, Giving Me and Miracle, which were all above her in the week Padam Padam peaked at #8. Oh well, it's the way it goes!

Wow, 7 weeks on Radio 2's A List. The only other song that's achieved that this year is - rather randomly - Bebe Rexha's Heart Wants What It Wants.

445th on Spotify current most streamed worldwide artists. Another 740k on Thursday.

Wow! 24 hours into the new week and things are looking promising for Kylie re-entering the top 10.

 

4 songs above her seem to be going to ACR.

 

Kylie is showing no decline yet on Apple, nor on Amazon - in fact, if anything an increase on Amazon.

 

On Apple, other than Taylor Swift, no one else is challenging Kylie - apart from possibly ‘0800 Heaven’. Taylor can only have a maximum of 3 songs above Kylie INCLUDING ‘Cruel Summer’ - and remember, it’s not a certain that these new songs will be above PP - (to date only 1 ‘Taylor’s version’ song has made the top 10).

 

Obviously, Spotify charts are still to come - but Apple seems to be a good predictor.

 

There are 3 Amazon charts at least. Kylie is at 6, 7 and 10 in these three charts - I think these are all peaks, maybe new peaks. In the version in which she as it 6, she is the top non-ACR song, so effectively number 1!!! Where she is 7, she is beaten only by ‘Sprinter’. And at 10 she is also beaten by ‘Vampire’, and ‘Tattoo’ - so effectively she is top 4 on all Amazon streaming charts!

 

So other than two additional Taylor Swift songs, the biggest barriers for Kylie are this: if we have miscalculated who is going onto ACR, then the songs directly below her in the chart: Harry Styles (who is declining rapidly), 0800 Heaven, Jorja Smith, Gunna and Weeknd.

 

Kylie has a good chance of being at number 10, and possibly even the dreaded number 8!
