^ That picture shows the very first set of Spice Girls dolls, the "Girl Power series". Manufactured by Galoob, they went on sale in time for the Christmas 1997 market (and apparently there was a shortage and the demand couldn't be met)! In 1997 they generated $200m in retail sales, and were the 5th best selling toy of 1997 in the UK. They were the 2nd best selling toy of 1998 in the US.

Throughout 1998 and 1999, many more sets of dolls were released. Sales of the dolls reportedly exceeded 11 million, which apparently still makes it the best selling celebrity dolls of all time.

Did any of you buy and the collect the dolls?

I've never owned any. I desperately wanted them for Christmas 1997, but... I was 9 years old and acutely aware that I shouldn't ask for dolls as presents (the pressures of society on how a young boy should behave <_< ). In the years since it hasn't ever crossed my mind to get any. When it comes to collecting I think I draw the line with most of their merchandise, bar the odd few things.

I know some fans have huge collections with different variants, which seems like a very expensive and overwhelming pastime! I respect the dedication though. This fan has a large collection: https://www.pinknews.co.uk/2022/10/01/spice...adam-weatherly/ https://www.instagram.com/thespicegirlsdolls/

Oh wow those numbers are impressive! I do wonder how much money from those sales did the girls themselves get?... 200million is a lot of money lol

I have the 5 from the first set

I also randomly have Baby and Posh from the on tour set

I used to have more when I was younger too haha

Yes I have one of each girl still in their boxes! I got them as a young girl and they sat with pride on my shelves for many years
