R1:

1+2+3+4+0+1+0+1+2+0 = 14

missed:

Two In A Room, Aretha Franklin, Psychedelic Furs

R2:

1+2+3+4+5+12+7+0+1+2 = 37

missed:

Mischa Paris

I also thought it was a little suspicious how late some of the round 1 contestant's answers were  perhaps I am just being cynical though x

Round 1: 1+2+3+4+0+1+0+0+0+0 = 11 (missed

2 In A Room, Aretha Franklin, Babybird, The Seahorses, The Psychedelic Furs

)

Round 2: 1+0+0+1+0+0+1+0+1+4 = 8 (missed

Sailor, 'Spirits In The Material World', Guns N' Roses, Simply Red, Mica Paris

)

I did know

Babybird and The Psychedelic Furs

in the back of my mind but couldn't recall them, would only have bumped my round 1 score up to 14 though. Hoped I was on for a new personal best after that great start but alas!

Ten To The Top Day 5:

R1:

x-1-2-x-1-2-x-1-x-x = 7

didn't get:

Genesis, Loose Ends, Haircut 100, Soho - an annoying miss, R. Dean Taylor

R2:

1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-x-1(x2) = 38

didn't get:

Furniture

Did poorly, 9 and 12, killed by all the 70s and early 80s questions

but they about one of my fav songs ever

Soho-Hippychick

find some questions to be too difficult, many about bands that just had 1 little hit and nothing else

I tried this for the first time today.

Round 1 - 1,2,x,x,1,2,3,4,x,x = 13

Round 2 - 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,x = 45

I just got the last question wrong which I used my joker for.

Friday

R1: 1+2+3+0+1+2+0+1+0+0 = 10

missed:

Loose Ends, Haircut 100, Soho, R. Dean Taylor

R2: 0+0+1+2+0+1+2+6+0+0 = 12

missed:

Slade, The Rock Steady Crew, The Smiths, Furniture, Tina Turner

Round 1: 18 (0+1+2+3+4+5+0+1+2+0) - didn't get

Genesis, Haircut 100, R. Dean Taylor

Round 2: 45 (1+0+1+2+3+4+5+6+7+16) - didn't get

Rocksteady Crew (oops).

Jade I think you'd like

'Brilliant Mind' by Furniture

Round 1: 12? (1+2+0+1+2+3+0+1+2+0) possibly 14 if my second wrong answer was Q8 instead of Q7 as I lost count somewhere - didn't get

Chequered Love (50/50 between that and Cambodia which I went for), The Rainmakers, Eric Clapton (guessed Bob Marley oops)

Round 2: 35 (1+2+3+4+5+6+7+0+1+4) - didn't get

Pioneers

Ten To The Top:

R1:

1-x-1-x-1-2-3-x-x-1(x2) = 10

didn't get:

Stakka Bo, Ian Dury - annoying miss, The Rainmakers, Echobelly

R2:

1-2-3-4-x-1-x-x-1-2(x2) = 16

didn't get:

Papa Roach - of course!!, Sparks, The Pioneers

Thankfully remembered the artist behind

'Tetris'

due to pretty much

being the Spin Doctors backwards

:kink:

Jade I think you'd like

'Brilliant Mind' by Furniture

You are correct :D

Monday

R1: 1+0+0+1+2+0+1+0+0+0 = 5

missed:

Stacabo, Kim Wilde, Dr Spin, The Rainmakers, Echo Belly, Eric Clapton

R2: 1+2+0+1+2+6+4+0+1+2 = 23

missed:

Spandau Ballet, The Pioneers

9 and 28

but questions were hard

especially cos they had for artists that just had 1 little top 40 hit that wasn't even that big back in the day

I mean who recalls

Stakka Bo, Rain Makers, the Dr Tetris one, the Papa Roach one...

Papa Roach's 'Last Resort' is absolutely remembered, I hear it all the time even in non-rock clubs. It's a platinum single here too, and has racked up almost 900m streams on Spotify.
Last Resort is def remembered I just couldn’t think of it this morning, said ‘Blurry’ which was the big Puddle of Mudd track of the same era 🤣, agree the questions were hard today. First time I did the new quiz!

Today's doesn't seem to have a podcast uploaded yet so I'll check back tomorrow and do today's and tomorrow's then if they're both up. Have caught up with Friday's which I hadn't done yet though:

Round 1: 0+1+2+0+1+2+0+1+0+0 = 7 (missed

Genesis, Loose Ends, Haircut 100, 'Hippychick', R. Dean Taylor

)

Round 2: 0+0+1+2+3+4+0+1+0+0 = 11 (missed

Slade, Rock Steady Crew, 'Son Of My Father', 'Brilliant Mind', Tina Turner

)

I actually came across the title of that

Chicory Tip

song very recently but didn't stick with me boo - would have got 21 (or maybe 27 if I felt like using the joker on question 8) on round 2 if I'd got that right!

Looks like I got 14 (1+2+0+1+2+3+4+0+1+0) on Round 1 yesterday

Round 1: 15 (1+2+3+4+0+1+2+0+0+2) - didn't get

Alan Price, Randy Crawford, Julian Lennon

Round 2: 38 (1+2+0+1+2+3+4+5+6+14) - didn't get

Blue Zoo (argh, I knew it was Blue something but guessed Blue Hue)

- edit: got Q3 wrong instead of Q2 so score 7 points fewer than I thought

Yikes at the contestants scoring 1 and 3

Ten To The Top:

R1:

1-2-3-x-x-1-x-x-1-2(x2) = 12

didn't get:

Aztec Camera, Alan Price, Grange Hill Cast, Randy Crawford

R2:

1-2-x-1-2-x-x-1-2-3(x2) = 15

didn't get:

Blue Zoo, Shelley Nelson, Clout - really annoying miss

Tuesday

R1: 1+2+3+0+0+1+0+1+0+2 = 10

missed:

Aztec Camera. Alan Price. Grange Hill Cast. Julian Lennon

R2: 1+2+0+0+1+0+1+2+6+4 = 17

missed:

Blue Zoo. Fergul Sharkey. Shelly Nelson (I could only just about recall her first name was Shelly but that I guess counts for nothing in this game)

very difficult today with all those 70s and early 80s questions, only got 13 and 11

really think they should make the questions slightly easier, they are too tough,

not even in the final of the previous show they had questions so hard

also it would make more sense if 1-point questions were the easiest, then 2-point questions a bit more difficult and so on

I think they are over-compensating for the contestant who was clearly cheating and making it harder and less time to respond. So most people are getting next to no points now which is silly, the format is just a downer for those that know quite a bit but not everything.

Today, due to mostly old questions, I got 65 and 65 (if I allow myself getting

semisonic

just as the racket stopped). Gary Davies is good (we don't need Vernon Kay), doing his best with the format, but Come Back Popmaster Ken all is forgiven!
