Never Tear Us Apart

thanks for the congrats & welcome back Jim/Bre :) Congrats Jim on the 36/39 yesterday! Snap! I watched the TV version last night (up for another 3 weeks on E4) and realised I'd do badly where in competition over clips - I'm just not fast enough :lol: Plus there were linked questions, which highlighted how much Westlife just washed over me and got deleted from my memory pretty quickly. Still, I re-learned

Guy Chambers co-wrote Brian mcFadden's number one.

Oh and there was one impossible question: name either of the members of

Sly Fox

. Nobody knew either of the members of

Sly Fox

when they had their one hit for 2 months, never mind 37 years later... :lol:

Round 1: 36 points (didnt get

Babylon Zoo

's)

Round 2: 39 points

being consistent again....

got the 3 in 10 (

need you tonight, bitter tears, suicide blonde

then seized up trying to remember the one Paloma faith covered)

Friday's:

Round 1: 12 (missed

Neil Diamond (-3), 'Come Live With Me' (-3), Edwyn Collins (-6), 'Walk Like A Panther' (-3), either The Lemonheads song (-6), Jason Donovan (-3), either Babylon Zoo song (-3)

)

Round 2: 10? (missed

'So You Win Again' (-3), Texas (-3), 'Einstein A-Go-Go' (-3), Manfred Mann's Earth Band (-3), Alison Moyet (-6), 1984 (-3), Sabrina (-6), Alisha's Attic (-3 / -2? I said Alison's Attic, close enough, lemme give myself a point xx)

)

3 in 10: 1/3 (

'Never Tear Us Apart'

) - I also remembered they had

the one sampled by Professor Green

but the title was escaping me, wouldn't have got a third either way though

1 year early on the second year.

I guessed Annie Lennox for the Alison Moyet bonus... I don't know whether to laugh or cry at me continuing to be unable to distinguish between those two in my memory. Alison Moyet's name remaining on the mind when trying to recall Alisha's Attic as well clearly lol

Well done on those recent top scores Jim and John!

Round 1: 21 (didn't get:

Kool & The Gang, 1971, Joan Armatrading, Hue and Cry, Pet Shop Boys

)

Round 2: 24 (didn't get:

Manhatten Transfer, Amazulu, Donny Osmond, Spyro Gyra

)

Three-in-Ten: 1

(Here I Go Again)

Round 1: 21 - didn't get

Kool And The Gang, 'Lily Was Here', Alison Moyet (not Annie Lennox ^_^ ), 1971 (changed my mind to 1969), Joan Armatrading

Round 2: 33 - didn't get

Manhattan Transfer, Spyro Gyra. As if we didn't have enough Donny Osmond in the #2s yesterday

Three In Ten: 3 -

Here I Go Again, Is This Love, Sweet Lady Luck - the latter was the double A side with Is This Love for its 1994 reissue

Thanks Jade! :) 20's is very respectable even for people who were around in the olden days :D :cheer:

Round 1: 39 Points

Round 2: 36 points "One Year Out!" argghhh! :lol:

3 in 10: Just the one

Here I Go Again

- I'll be honest, bar that one bland Rock tends to go in one ear and out the other... that's my excuse and Im sticking to it! :lol:

Well done John and Rollo for the 39s yesterday!

Round 1: 30 (didn't get:

1988 (one year out), Dan Hartman, Altered Images

)

Round 2: 21 (didn't get:

Barbara Dixon, The Shangri-Las, Spandau Ballet, Kissing The Pink

)

Three-in-Ten: 3

(Do Wah Diddy Diddy, 5-4-3-2-1, Pretty Flamingo)

Well done with the 39s John and Rollo!

Round 1: 36 - didn't get

Dan Hartman

Round 2: 27 - didn't get

The Shangri-las (guessed The Crystals), Kissing The Pink (probably should have got that from the title in the chorus)

Three in ten: 2 -

Blinded By The Light, The Mighty Quinn, then brain freeze

Thanks Jim and Jade

Round 1 : 39 :cheer:

Round 2 : 36 Didn't get

Little Does She Know, all I could think of was 'I know that she knows that he knows'

I think that's the first time I've managed 39 two days in a row.

3 in 10 : 3

Blinded By The Light, Davy's On The Road Again, Do Wah Diddy Diddy

I feel like today's round 2 may have been a repeat (minus the bonuses)? All of the questions sounded familiar. Didn't stop me getting some of them wrong ofc :P

Anyway, catching up a bit again as I forgot to play yesterday ~

Yesterday:

Round 1: 12 (missed

Kool & The Gang (-3), 'Lily Was Here' (-3), Alison Moyet (-6), 1971 (-3), Joan Armatrading (-3), 'Labour Of Love' (-6), 'A Red Letter Day' (-3)

)

Round 2: 21 (missed

Lenny Kravitz (-3), Manhattan Transfer (-3), The Corrs (-6), Amazulu (-3), 'Morning Dance' (-3)

)

3 in 10: 1/3 (

'Here I Go Again'

) - I made the same mistake as the contestant with the song title but Ken allowed it so I'll give it to myself too :P I see I'm far from alone in this being the only song I know from this act

4 years early for the first year.

Alison Moyet continuing to be my arch-nemesis, I should just make her my default guess for any bonus question where she might be a plausible answer. Should have got 'Lily Was Here' too from its SyncTube play after Paul O'Grady passed away but didn't quite connect the dots. I actually managed to completely guess the title of the Donny Osmond song...!

~

Today:

Round 1: 30 (missed

1988 (-3), Dan Hartman (-3), 'I Could Be Happy' (-3)

)

Round 2: 21 (missed

The Shangri-Las (-6), 'I Don't Need This Pressure On' (-3), Marcella Detroit (-3), Kissing The Pink (-6)

)

3 in 10: 0/3 - I recognise several song titles after looking them up but my mind went completely blank before that, ah well

3 years late for the first year - but still got I think my best score since the move to Greatest Hits Radio, and should have been 33, I knew

Dan Hartman

but the name didn't come to mind quickly enough. Likewise in round 2 I knew

the Spandau Ballet title and Marcella Detroit

but couldn't get them in time.

And got a second edition in a row of managing to completely guess a song title for 'January February'!!

Well done on another 39 Rollo, one away from a full house!

Round 1: 30 - didn't get

Patrick MacNee & Honor Blackman, Alarm (couldn't quite get the title, I had '21 Guns' but that was Green Day)

Round 2: 24 - didn't get

The Foremost, The Four Tops, Smokie

Three In Ten: 3 -

Girls Just Want To Have Fun, Time After Time, True Colors

playing live on podcast now...well done 39'ers!

Round 1: 30 (1 year out and I had no idea about the last duet :o :lol: )

Round 2: 39 (60's groups is fine for me) :D

3 in 10: same 3 as the contestant

Well done John and Rollo on 39s again! :clap: and nice one getting a GHR best Brer :cheer:

Round 1: 21 (didn't get:

Stereophonics, Patrick MacNee & Honor Blackman, The Alarm, The Associates, Belle Epoque

)

Round 2: 24 (didn't get:

The Eagles, Bee Gees, The Fourmost, Smokie

)

Three-in-Ten: 3

(Girls Just Want To Have Fun, True Colors, Time After Time)

Round 1: 15 (missed

Stereophonics (-3), Patrick MacNee & Honor Blackman (-6), '68 Guns' (-3), 'Party Fears Two' (-3), Jennifer Lopez & LL Cool J (-6), Belle Epoque (-3)

)

Round 2: 12 (missed

Eagles (-3), 'Go Now!' (-6), 'This Is Where I Came In' (-3), The Fourmost (-6), The Four Tops (-6), Smokey (-3)

)

3 in 10: 2/3 (

'Girls Just Want To Have Fun', 'True Colors'

) - I knew there was a third obvious one (

'Tine After Time'

) so defo should have got this but didn't get it in 10 seconds alas

A rare round where I got both years correct!

'Party Fears Two'

was another case of a song played on SyncTube not that long ago but the title not sticking in my memory well enough.

Also re 'Black Is Black' I remembered Los Bravos but knew that wasn't right as he said French not Spanish, I didn't remember the name of the group that covered it oop

.

Round 1 : 21 Didn't get

Stereophonics, Patrick McNee & Honor Blackman, the year, LL Cool J & Jennifer Lopez

I did get one half of each of those two duets so maybe Ken might have given me some points for both of them.

Round 2 : 15 Didn't get

Eagles, Bee Gees, The Fourmost, Bjork, Four Tops, Smokie

3 in 10 : 3

Girls Just Want To Have Fun, All Through The Night, Time After Time

Well done John on another 39! I got one today...

Round 1: 39 :cheer:

Round 2: 27 - didn't get

Alison Krauss, Bobby Darin

Three In Ten: 3 -

Mysterious Girl, Flava, I Feel You

  • Author

Round 1: 27 (didn't get:

U2/B.B. King, Shirley Bassey, Curt Smith

)

Round 2: 27 (didn't get:

Alison Krauss, Eddi Reader, 1977

)

Three-in-Ten: 3
