I'm gonna go with What The Future Holds (part 1), simply because for me they picked the perfect four singles in the correct order and couldn't have done any better.
Grrr, the poll won’t add?

The others can be deleted btw!

Anything to get your post numbers up ey… I see you.

Great idea!

Tough choice, it’s between Step One and What The Future Holds pt1 for me. Just not really sure yet. Both singles runs are perfection.

Heartbreak in This City as a single with Michelle Visage, should really belong in the Part 2 album era. I know it bridges the gap between albums but strictly speaking it is a part of the Part 2 era, not Part 1.

That’s how it’s done on their Wikipedia too. What the Future Holds album singles run is displayed as being What the Future Holds, Something in Your Eyes and finally To the Beat of My Heart. Part 2 album beginning with Heartbreak in This City.

I won't ever be able consider it as part 2 era, for me that begins at 'Take Me For a Ride' and HBITC feels like it was tacked on for whatever reason.

What clinches it for me is that the What the Future Holds Pt. 2 preorders were launched off the back of Heartbreak in This City being a single! So that initial rush of preorders was thanks to this single. Many months before Take Me for a Ride came to be. Although I appreciate that prior to 1st April, Heartbreak would have felt like it was a new version for the first album, because we didn’t know what was to come at that point. That’s why I feel like the single is a bit of a bridge between two albums. But that ultimately it being used as a promotional push for Pt. 2 and it being included on the track list ultimately makes it a single for that era.

25th February: Single Mix released

20th March: Added to Radio 2 playlist

1st April: Music video premiere / What the Future Holds Pt. 2 track list reveal, formats announced & pre-order begins / Acoustic version released

2nd April: Graham Norton performance

23rd April: Remixes EP

29th July: Take Me for a Ride released

This is a close one between Step one and WTFH! I’m going to pick the first as it’s a strong run and a really nice build up in their success.
The run of singles from Step One was a great build up to their success and laid an extremely strong foundation for them as a very successful group.
