December 4, 20223 yr 2 Wham! - Last Christmas 1 Mariah Carey - All I Want for Christmas Is You Mariah Carey leads the Official Singles Chart Number 1 race at the midweek mark, with All I Want For Christmas Is You currently tracking for the top spot. But it’s by no means a done deal, as another festive staple sits less than 300 chart units behind the Queen of Christmas. Wham!’s Last Christmas eyes a lift to Number 2, currently just 50 chart units ahead of Taylor Swift’s Anti-Hero at Number 3. Could Anti-Hero’s reign come to an end on Friday following its six-week stint at Number 1? Newly-independent RAYE looks set to see viral hit featuring 070 Shake reach a new peak; the track jumping two midweek (4). Read our exclusive interview with RAYE here. Lewis Capaldi could claim the week’s highest new entry with Pointless. The Ed Sheeran co-write, and second single to be lifted from his upcoming Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent LP, eyes a Number 5 debut after 48 hours. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, as a host of festive favourites are on the ascent midweek. Ed Sheeran and Elton John’s Merry Christmas might just enter the Top 10 for the first time this year (9), while Brenda Lee’s 1958 staple Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree could jump seven spots (11). Elsewhere in the midweek Top 20, we see yuletide classics from Michael Bublé (It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas – 13), Shakin’ Stevens (Merry Christmas Everyone – 14) and The Pogues featuring Kirsty MacColl (Fairytale Of New York – 16). Ariana Grande’s Santa Tell Me could lift 11 (17), Kelly Clarkson’s Underneath The Tree eyes an ascent (18) and Band Aid’s Do They Know It’s Christmas? looks set to impact the Top 20 for the first time this year (20).
December 4, 20223 yr Im hopeful Raye can continue to make big gains and the Christmas hysteria will die down mid week for her to get #1! This time last week she was #18 (I think?) and ended the week at #6 after all!
December 4, 20223 yr If it says that 350 sales separate the top 4, then RAYE or Taylor will more likely be #1 thanks to ACR
December 4, 20223 yr Do you guys think the UK prefers Mariah or Wham? Edited December 4, 20223 yr by daniellovesmusic
December 4, 20223 yr If it says that 350 sales separate the top 4, then RAYE or Taylor will more likely be #1 thanks to ACR It doesn't say that, it says 350 sales separate the top 3. We don't know how far behind RAYE is (and if Mariah and/or Wham! can continue to double Taylor's streams they can still do it)
December 4, 20223 yr Do you guys think the UK prefers Mariah or Wham? You’d think the UK would prefer Wham! over Mariah with the former being British and the latter being American. You’d think people would be preferring Xmas songs by artists from their own country. I’d understand if Mariah was the #1 Xmas song in America

December 4, 20223 yr If you check the article it says "less than 350 units separate the midweek top 4" Hadn't spotted the subheading. I stand corrected, my apologies. RAYE can't be far behind Taylor at all then so I'd say she's probably in pole position to be #1 by the end of the week!
December 4, 20223 yr We don't have yesterday and today Spotify numbers yet - Mariah and Wham have good chances to go on the run
December 4, 20223 yr We get the same snarky comments every year. People just love the Mariah & Wham songs. If their sales weren’t cut in half they’d be wiping the floor with the competition already and Mariah would’ve already been #1 last week. Funny that some have a problem with genuine popularity but not the TikTok algorithm sound bites.

Funny that some have a problem with genuine popularity but not the TikTok algorithm sound bites. More about the lack of competition - Mariah & Wham are classic songs and fact they continue to do well every year is because they are good songs too but also lack of strong songs in the charts right now is a big factor.
December 4, 20223 yr Here’s hoping RAYE can pull through with a boost over the week. Not looking good if Mariah is already at the top when there is no doubt missing data here and Sunday streams will also be big.
December 4, 20223 yr Escapism could go number one at any time this month or even January if it remains stable - most of the songs in the top 10 other than Escapism will most likely be far into their ACR era.
December 4, 20223 yr seems promising for Raye with such a tight sales margin at the top I really hope she can make number one as she really deserves it besides Mariah Wham and Taylor have all had their turn at number one already
