I love Green Green Grass and always tried to pump it up in the Reshuffle chart! Yes, it's silly, but it's the definition of an earworm!

Apparently The Vaccines released an album earlier in the year! I appear to have completely missed that, but didn't miss this track - another decent offering from them with a pretty earworm-y chorus even if I don't have a clue what the song is about.

There are a few songs which I do remember liking but didn't expect to be anywhere near as high as they are in my EOY! I decided to leave this one pretty much where it was though as it's a fabulously punchy dance track with deep vocals which work really well with the beat.

I discovered this song whilst looking for Nigerian indie bands (specific I know!) and once I found it I very quickly grew to enjoy it a lot. Whilst it does take half of the song to kick in, I really think they've nailed it in terms of the indie sound here, and like many other songs in this countdown I couldn't get it out of my head!

Sam doesn't quite make #1 this year but does make the Top 100 again with this fantastic post-album track that I'm absolutely swaying along to right now. Sadly this didn't crack the Top 40 to give Sam his second chart hit but it did have a very respectable stint in the Top 100! The brass at the end of this just takes it to a completely new level as well.

Oh I completely forgot about "So Good" as I think I was in the opposite semi, shame and surprised that it happened to DNQ as it sounds very Purple Disco Machine.

I think the vocal must come from some kind of sample bank because EDX's latest uses the exact same vocal.

I also enjoyed the Icelandic Eurovision entry as well as Regard "Signals" and Sam Fender "Getting Started" (although I playlisted the Chase & Status remix)

I had heard songs from The Slow Show before but hadn't paid much attention to the name until I saw their album reviewed in The Big Issue and thought it was worth giving some of their music a listen. I stumbled across this one, and instantly thought the spoken verses mixed in with the fab instrumentals and chorus was a tune. And of course it then went to BJSC where it got a pretty respectable result! It actually took me a while to really pay attention to the lyrics, a lot of which reference the BLM movement, and that just adds a real depth to the song which make it een more powerful than I had initially thought.

Indeed! I should've carried on voting in the Reshuffle chart to keep it up - thanks Zárate!

Ah, that's interesting regarding the So Good sample! Glad you liked these other songs as well - will need to give the Chase & Status remix a listen at come point. Thanks Dan ^_^

Hey Pete!

When you're gone is an absolute topper of a tune. I'm by no means a fan of Shawn Mendes at all but this is definitely the best he's ever released and to see it underperform.officially was horrible. Such a waste, honestly.

Dancing feet was pretty decent. I'd have liked to have enjoyed more from them this year but it is what it is.

Remind me is pretty decent but all his music sounds the same much like with Tom Grennan.

Living without you got a pretty unfairly bad rep on the end I feel which is a shame..one of my favourite songs of the year.

Nice selection so far! ^_^

Not sure if I've missed anything noteworthy on the previous page since I last commented but 'Getting Started' is another good one from Sam. Funnily you have him one place higher than in mine :o

'Breathe' is incredible. Your best entry for me and will be in my chart somewhere. I can say where exactly as I don't want to give it away :kink:

This is a beatiful slow song reflecting on the singer's faith by considering the sunflowers outside her window. The comparison is made between the sunflowers raising their flowers high regardless of the weather, Gledhill will lift her eyes even when things aren't on her side. A fab song and it builds beautifully throughout.

The first Bear's Den song to appear in the Top 100, again this is a slow song which really brings out the emotions and wedged itself firmly into my head. The song really shows the care the narrator has for their subject, with hope but also desperation. Bear's Den really know how to do this sort of stuff.

This was an absolutely perfect track for Mr. Ezra to return to the charts with! The piano riff is brilliant, the lyrics are fab and it just radiates good vibes. It was all set to be my Mainstream Song of the Year - if not for that pesky Sam Ryder!

I'm sure this song had a lyric video but it appears to have vanished now I'm looking for it! Anyway this was by far Sea Girls' best song of the year, painting a very real picture of two people 'putting up' with each other and being there for the other even if they don't like themselves. So catchy!

Interesting reflections here! I agree with your remark about Shawn and Dancing Feet although Remind Me to me sounds nothing like any of Tom Grennan's previous stuff! I don't know how Living Without You has been viewed as I've not really looked at that part of the forum/Internet but based on its chart performance it would've been nice for it to have done better! Thanks James ^_^

My first thought upon hearing this was 'this is completely different from anything I've heard from these guys before!', however I very quickly began to love it, and also to consider it as a BJSC entry. Whilst everyone was busy listening to Seafret's 2015 track 'Atlantis' this year, I was getting stuck into this lovely little ballad from this year, a song of hope in what seems to be a difficult situation for the narrator. It's very different to the two songs I'd charted before from them but still right up my street.
