I've not checked the full album out but I've been a fan of most of her singles. Even 'you broke me first' which got mixed reactions on the site. Mostly bad

Conor's Top 20 Albums of 2022

#1: Midnights - Taylor Swift

She's done it, she's got the #1 album after being denied it last year! Taylor Swift's Midnights sails to the top spot after just 2 months of its release! Its fair to say this year has been huge for Taylor, 8 #1s in one year, 2 albums in the Top 3 biggest albums of the year. Midnights era kicked off in August with the announcement at the VMAs, and the build up with 4 alternate covers and vinyl/cds (which i have all 4 of btw ). And then the album dropped. 3 hours later 7 deluxe songs dropped, and just like that we had 20 new Taylor songs! 4 #1s from the album in 5 weeks, 9 top 10s and 5 songs from the album are set comfortably in the EOY top 100 singles, it spent 7 straight weeks at th top of the albums, and theonly album to knock her off was... Taylor herself with evermore for a single week to celebrate its 2 year anniversary. She might not have the christmas #1 for a 2nd year but shes completely dominated the charts this year so she rightly takes the crown of Album Of The Year. I'm not doing an Artists of the Year countdown, but if I was she would crown it. Now, can she do the double and get the #1 single too? Theres tough competition and the top 200 kicks off on Wednesday!

So this year has really been a year of revival. Many many older songs have been given new leases of life due to tiktok, to varying levels of success. When i created my chart I introduced a blanket rule that only 'current' songs could chart because otherwise there'd be songs that weren't currently "hits" charting for weeks due to being classica, or just my favourites. Earlier this year I went through a hugely draamtic friendship break-up, and part of the way I overcame my sadness and anger towards my former friend was through music. There were several songs (mainly by Taylor Swift) that I used and listened to a lot, and they were influential to me this year, but due to this rule it stopped the songs from charting meaning they don't have chart points and so can't chart in the EOY top 200. The rule was vetoed after Kate Bush's revival because it made me realise my charts should be representing the music i am listening to at the minute, but the damage had been done and these songs weren't able to chart. So to celebrate these songs that have had a huge impact this year, here are some songs that missed out on the EOY but deserve to be celebrated. Luckily, lots of them still have to be re-recorded by Taylor so they'll have a chance to shine once the re-recordings drop!

Better Than Revenge - Taylor Swift

I need to apologise to my neighbours, because for the most of April this song was blasting max volume through my speakers. The firendship breakdown really affected me at the time  looking back now, I'm honestly glad it ended and now instead of screaming this song pretending she's listening, I listen to Karma by Taylor Swift and the lyric 'karma's a relaxing thought/ aren't you envious that for you its not'.

I must admit, its very fun being angry and screaming songs like this! This brand of Taylor Swift music really is my perfect cup of tea, and I know that when speak now Taylors version comes out this will definitely be big!

Should've Said No - Taylor Swift

This song is as old as me! I was shook to find out! Still an incredible song, and very relatable, especially the lines 'everything is gone' and 'even now just looking at you feels wrong'. I may or may not have sent her a spotify link to this song on her birthday :kink:

PS if we don't get a version of Should've Said No like this performance on Debut Taylor's Version I will be very dissapointed

F*ck You - Lily Allen

Now, this one did actually chart on my chart this year, though its still included in here because it would've charted for a lot more weeks if the handicap wasn't in place. It did chart when Lily & Olivia Rodrigo sang it at Glastonbury though! Iconic

I prefer a lot of the lower down Taylor songs there to the higher ones from your chart history for Midnights as you'll see in my EOY :kink: 'anti-hero' aside of course <3

'Mean', 'Bad Blood' & 'f*** You' are all good from those special picks!

This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things - Taylor Swift

This is where things started to turn, I gradually moved away from the angsty-angry songs to a more of a 'its your loss' perspective. 'here's a toast to my real friends'

You Need To Calm Down - Taylor Swift

This is the one. A bop, an anthem and such a fun song! Still consistently one of my most listened to Taylor Songs despite being 3.5 years old!

Big Girls Don't Cry (Personal) - Fergie

This song would have easily been a smash top 10 hit on my chart early this year when it went viral on tiktok early in the year. Unfortunately it got blocked out due to that rule (ugh why did you put that in place 2021 conor? you were so dumb). This is such a gorgeous timeless classic, and I am actually so annoyed with myself for not letting it chart because it was one of my most streamed songs of the summer. :(

At least its getting its recognition here now. Fergie ILY and it is one of the greatest songs ever imo!
