I found a thread on /r/postrock a few weeks ago that had a bunch of people heaping hyperbolic praise on Russian Circles (primarily as a live act) so thought they'd be worth checking out and the immediate energy of this track floored me a bit! Can't say I'm surprised it's not doing great but glad it's found at least the one other big fan.

 

I was very curious to see who was behind the Sonic song, I thought it might be either Y'all Starlight or WhoOdyssey, not quite!

'Diva' is a good song (finished just outside my votes) but definitely seems far too poppy for this imo - though as I predicted that's backfired anyway as it's not ended up being a winner contender despite some predictions so I guess it's not really caused any harm in the end.

Another 7 for Slowdive from this pair and once again it edges slightly further in front, the lead now 9 points ahead of both Jadu Heart and Heartworms as the former picks up a second 12. Plenty of songs towards the bottom received points in these two, including a maximum for Armenia putting it in touch with the top 20, and Camp Cope finally adds a second score to gooddelta's maximum. It is more post-metal than post-rock tbf, I can see it having been a bit too heavy and put off some of the usual fans of the genre (whereas the more palatable Tides From Nebula are doing much better). Yay picking up a few more low points again in the last two votes though, thank you Kath and Wardy! Enjoyed both of your songs too.

dhwe only gives points to three of the top 10, with his 12 coming to Deerhunter, the only song which was able to climb up but not be able to win. The three for Jadu Heart puts everything else out of reach and it's a two way fight between that for Doctor Blind and Slowdive for awardinary, one of which will be winning a 2nd contest on Buzzjack and 1st Nuggets.

 

 

Thanks for the votes so far! Quite happy with the reception to it, I suspected it would be divisive but it seems to have a few big fans. I heard this recently and fell in love with it straight away, the juxtaposition of the choral/operatic vocal with the gothic rock music really stood out to me.

I'm surprised I didn't get votes from a lot of the usual indie hags but I did pick up votes from people I didn't expect so it cancels out, midtable ain't so bad. ty seven for the 12 btw!
