Hope France win, I want the World Cup to stay in Europe at least and it would be an outstanding achievement if they could win back to back World Cups. Only twice has it happened before.

Another 4-3 like their 2018 encounter would be great. I think Argentina will win this but it will be a close one.

 

Hopefully this will be the last time ever that a World Cup match is played in Qatar, personally this has felt like a stop-start World Cup and I've not been able to get fully absorbed in it like the previous tournaments due to the scheduling of the matches.

If Argentina win it will keep up an interesting pattern that has developed over the last few years:

 

2014 winners Germany: (knocked out in 2010 World Cup by champions Spain)

 

2018 winners France: (knocked out in 2014 World Cup by champions Germany)

 

2022 winners Argentina? (knocked out in 2018 World Cup by champions France)

 

 

It nearly could have been the same for France knocking Spain out of the 2006 World Cup if they had won the penalty shoot out in the final instead of Italy.

Messi doesn't need a WC to settle the debate imo. It's not like Ronaldo has one anyway. The debate is only between him and Maradona really as Argentinians still prefer Maradona but this would perhaps change their opinions.
