So for my Christmas Countdown i've decided to do it differently to usual, just because I have nothing else to do today so why not! As usual, I will post my full Top 50 with the chart commentary, chart runs, top 5 albums, throwbacks and list of #1's like normal, but before that I will countdown the chart. 50-11 will be done in groups of 5 (ie.50-45 in one post, 15-11 in one post etc) and then I'll count down the top 10 individually!

 

I'll quickly post the contenders for my Xmas #1 but I have done 3 flash midweek updates under my post for last weeks chart as well! Starting very soon!

Who's in the running for Xmas #1?!

 

- RAYE feat. 070 Shake with Escapism. have been at the top for the past 2 weeks, can they stay there?

- Taylor Swift with Karma has been spent the past 5 weeks in the top 2 including 2 weeks at the top, can she reclaim it?

- Wham! with Last Christmas peaked at #3 last year, can they go higher?

- The Pogues feat. Kirsty MacColl are also in the running

- Phoebe Bridgers with I Drink Wine has had some incredible numbers this week, can it climb 41-1 this week?!

- Taylor Swift with right where you left me. Unexpected, but the song has been keeping me going with my struggles of seasonal depression, can that unexpectedly take the top spot?

- ROSALIA with the DESPECHA RMX. It features Cardi B, can the summery bop take the crown in the middle of December?!

ROSALIA's summer single got a remix from queen of guest verses Cardi B. This song is a pure summer bop so a December release seems strange, though I guess it is currently summer in the southern hemisphere so that makes sense! It manages the top 10 through the peak of christmas so definitely expect this to climb into the new year!

Mabel's modern festive hit has become a classic for me, due to its message. It talks about not feeling joy, happiness or festive at christmas, and as someone who struggles with seasonal depression it really resonates! A huge climber this year, climbing 33 spots and to a new peak!

SZA's viral Kill Bill drops this week after debuting in the top 3, but I think once the Christmas songs fade it is a strong contender for the next #1! Such a bop, and although I don't have an ex there are certainly people who fill the role :kink:

Yeah its quite fun doing it this way, i had nothing else to do so why not! Shame you don't think cardi adds to despecha, i love the rmx as much as the original! glad you like the christmas songs, and yeah MOAC is one of my top songs of the year. I know my charts are mainly pop, but the song really represents my childhood because its the style of music i grew up with due to my dad so i think thats part of why its connected with me like it has!

A lot of dads tend to gravitate to rock music I find so only makes sense lol. I'm sure the remix will grow but it was fine enough with just ROSALIA on it by herself. Should crop up in a lot of EOY's too (mine included).

thats for sure lol! Yeah i guess because i hardly listened to the original the remix is more enjoyable for me. and thats good to hear, rosalia is brilliant and i am shocked i didnt "discover" her sooner
