January 2, 20241 yr Two of Kluminican Republic, Persephonia, Terra Avium, Cumulonimbia and Kathaldazia will win. Yep One of Lookylion, Bhangra, Greenfroze or Quintessa will also win. Yep FARC, Aeroche and Altyr will all get one each, but ONE of these will also suffer two DNQs during the year. None of them won, oops, can't remember if FARC had two DNQs Cor Lupus will win once, or come extremely close, but at least two winners from other nations will be songs on their potentials list. Not quite, although I expect the second part of the prediction happened Botanikka will have a big comeback year with multiple top 10 hits. Yep A 10 minute-plus long song will breach the top three. Voryva nearly was I guess, were any others longer? Jade will fail to win any spin-offs but will have her biggest year yet in the main contest. Mixed prediction Zanmatony will have a big top five hit. No, but I think it's on its way East Rukahavian will switch to an unexpected genre at some point and bag a top ten nobody sees coming. Yes! One of the winners will be decided on a tie-break between a slightly cheap pop song and a niche track that racks up the 18s. The pop song wins as it has more voters and causes an uproar. No, although I'd love to see a tie-break again - just not with me on the wrong side of it as usual At least five of the top three finishers will have been discussed as potential vetoes before slipping through and soaring to success. Almost certainly did happen At least three PJSC winners will be recycled from there and turn up, most will do well but one is a huge flop. I expect this happened too, although I haven't tracked PJSC in a while République d'Áskorza will manage their biggest hit in years as they strike gold with a hit that's big in Germany. Did this happen? If not then I think it will this year. A major nation (one from this year's EOY top 10) will shockingly score under 20 points in a semi final when their song ends up with a completely unsuitable semi draw. Nah, the big nations never do this badly do they. Summericia's streak of qualifiers will continue for a while yet. It did!
January 2, 20241 yr FARC did indeed have 2 DNQs last year (Tyla and Djanaba). Wonder what happened to Tyla x I think Dzivia was the longest top 3 hit of the year. République d'Áskorza's biggest hit of the year was CHINCHILLA coming 10th (I forget if any of their entries were German hits but pretty sure that one wasn't). That was a little under 2 years after their last top 10. I was in the 2022 EOY top 10 and then had a sub 20 point song in a semi-final in 2023 (Slauson Malone 1) so you can count that as correct too if I may still count myself as a major nation :P (I know there were at least 3 people in the opposite semi who were fans of that song too although it may be a stretch to say it was a surprise DNQ even with that x) These were the PJSC winners of the year: Honey. - What Now INJI - MADELINE Dani Sylvia - She Swam Higher Moyka - Rear View LOWES - Bloodstream Dotter - No Room For Love hemlocke springs - sever the blight Rêve - Contemporary Love Lexie Liu - dance dance Chappell Roan - Super Graphic Ultra Modern Girl safesp8ce - Quiet, I Can't Think Ghostly Kisses - Golden Eyes 2 of those also being BJSC winners but those were both in BJSC first (as was INJI though not a BJSC winner ofc)! Dani Sylvia, Dotter and Chappell Roan were entered here after their PJSC wins, and respectively came 2nd, 3rd and 23rd, so you were more or less bang on. (Although Chappell Roan hardly a 'huge flop' especially as that was affected by a deduction). noelle - Cold Killer was also a PJSC winner at the tail end of 2022 and came 5th when entered to BJSC in 2023. There may have been others, I forget. LOWES and Rêve were both attempted here too but were vetoed of course. And Moyka may have been too, I've lost track of which songs of hers have been vetoed x As much as I don't want to encourage the shameless knowing recycling of PJSC winners... those safesp8ce and Ghostly Kisses songs are both very good and I expect they'd do well here too! And I think 2 different people have confirmed the Lexie Liu song to BJSC but then swapped to something else so maybe one day it'll finally get its turn (that one is a tune too although less sure it would be a big hit here).
January 3, 20241 yr We had a couple of hits by Rd‘Á standards (I’d also say Molly Sandén was quite a big hit for us) but nothing that’s in the German charts Need to see if I can get German Tap to catch on
