Following last year's series 6, The Sun are reporting that Line of Duty will return for a final 3 episodes next Christmas!

Ooooooh I didn’t feel like the end was particularly ending like so something to wrap it up would be nice. Such a sublime show that I will never say no to more!

It always felt like it would return, and I'll be pleased if it does. I'm convinced the criticism it received was because it was assumed to be the end altogether, but that was never confirmed (or denied tbf) and just felt like an end of series ending, which in that case was absolutely fine.

While I know it was never confirmed to be ending, I didn’t like how all the marks pointed to it ending with that last episode, it was just so unsatisfying in how it tied up the threads. You’ve got to leave us with some hope at least even if you are trying to be close to real life.

 

 

Something like this happened a few months ago and nothing came of it.

 

I didn’t mind the ending and I’d hate for them to retcon it.

I always thought series 6 ended up getting watered down slightly due to Covid since they couldn’t go overboard with the big stunts and had to film some of it within Covid rules. That’s why I think the ending wasn’t as good as it could be. So another few big episodes filmed without restrictions to end the series would be brilliant.
