September 2, 20231 yr Fair play to Evans for taking a set off Alcaraz and putting up a fight (think many thought it would be a hammering) I’ve been excited about Draper for a while so great to see him get to where he was heading before injury last year.
September 3, 20231 yr Author Ben Shelton takes the first set against Tommy Paul after being 0-3 in 10 mins.
September 4, 20231 yr Ostapenko now has four match wins against Swiatek out of four meetings. Now that we're guaranteed a new US Open champion in the women's draw, I hope Gauff can go all the way. Failing that, Jabeur.
September 4, 20231 yr also rooting for Gauff just realised the awful Sabalenka is gonna be the world #1 no matter what happens in the US Open she doesn't deserve that, she can be good sometimes for like 3 minutes but overall she's terrible and a most 98% of the time
September 4, 20231 yr also rooting for Gauff just realised the awful Sabalenka is gonna be the world #1 no matter what happens in the US Open she doesn't deserve that, she can be good sometimes for like 3 minutes but overall she's terrible and a most 98% of the time So pretty much like every single player in the WTA then^
September 4, 20231 yr So pretty much like every single player in the WTA then^ Think Coco and Swiatek are much better, Swiatek was the deserving #1 all these months
September 4, 20231 yr Swiatek's had a pretty lousy year considering people were tipping her to dominate women's tennis. Won the French yes but rubbish in the other slams. Sabalenka has made the semis of all 3 this year and probably all 4.
September 6, 20231 yr Just read about the fan having to be ejected during Zverev's game after shouting a Nazi slogan. Really not great, and glad it was dealt with appropriately.
September 7, 20231 yr Interesting comments from Medvedev about the heat at the US Open, and I can't say I disagree with him! Player safety does need to come first.
September 7, 20231 yr I saw the Ostapenko-Gauff game and Ostapenko was really struggling with the heat guess no one will complain with all games being so late today, actually we can complain cos it's virtually impossible to watch them life semis start at 1am EU time :/
September 9, 20231 yr Great to see Coco Gauff win her first grand slam. Sabalenka started well but collapsed in the second and third sets, making too many errors. The crowd certainly played their part, making a huge amount of noise.
September 11, 20231 yr Another Novak masterclass, some of the stuff in that second set was just superb! Plenty of super long rallies as expected.
September 11, 20231 yr Wish it had been Serena but glad someone has finally equalled Court’s record of Grand Slam trophies
September 11, 20231 yr Coco was amazing! I still don't know how Novak always win watched the 2nd set and Medvedez was playing a hundred times better and totally deserved it :/
September 11, 20231 yr The second set was a wild ride. Novak held to love in his first 3 games and Med struggled on his serve, then it completely flipped and Med was comfortable on serve and Novak had a couple of 12+ minute holds. I dare say had the tie-breaker gone the other way it could have spurred Med on and he would have potentially had the edge thereafter.
September 12, 20231 yr Author Two-time Grand Slam champion Simona Halep has been banned for four years following breaches of the Tennis Anti-Doping Programme
October 8, 20231 yr Author World number two Iga Swiatek claimed her fifth title of the year with victory over Liudmila Samsonova in the China Open final. The Pole added to her titles in Doha, Stuttgart, Roland Garros and Warsaw with a 6-2 6-2 victory in Beijing.
