Posted January 4, 20232 yr Fp-WlOWxEHo This was a wicked set of results with a few queens defying the predictions that had been made of them in the last rate ....and a few doing exactly as we could have predicted. We'll be starting at the bottom for the ruveals as usual, and first up we have the only 5 queens who picked up an average below 3 points...
January 4, 20232 yr Author For our first set we have a mix of queens from UK, US and DRDU, with none of our CAN or All Winners queens featuring yet. 74 Faux Fur 2.14 DRDU2's first out brings up the rear here, with exactly the same score but more -1s than the queen in 74th. 73 Pomara Fifth 2.14 Back to DRDU2 for Pomara Fifth, who actually placed 8th. She had few standout moments in her season and a rivalry/argument with more sympathetic queens didn't help matters. 72 Baga Chipz 2.20 Not much betta than two fairly also-ran queens is Baga Chipz despite her second time reaching a final. Baga had a very strong Snatch Game again on UK vs the World... but unfortunately flopped pretty much everything else apart from a couple of memorable runways. Once again she was carried by production, this time even extending to taking naps in the workroom, throwing a tantrum and having fellow competitor Pangina make part of her design challenge for her. It wasn't a great edit for Baga this time round and she picks up the most -1s of all queens (4) as a result. 71 Just May 2.33 UK4's first out is the last queen to place under a 2.5 average. Just May had an unfortunate run on the season and failed to stand out to an extent, as well as failing to defend herself when Ru threw a lifeline. However, her of the season in which she interviewed her fellow castmates revealed a more fun side to her that the show perhaps missed. 70 June Jamblaya 2.73 "It's chocolate!" She may have been first out but June Jambalaya was also the first meme of season 14, here's hoping she makes some money off merch! June mostly received low to average scores with two 0s from Josh and elgornio dragging her down. January 5, 20232 yr i still love baga tbh. she's got a bratty side but i find her to be quite endearing
January 5, 20232 yr Forgot all about how unlikeable Baga was until reading through your UKvTW recap there! Horrible season for her, lol. June Jambalaya was the definition of filler queen. She showed us absolutely nothing. Deserving of the 0 I gave her tbh
January 6, 20232 yr Author The second set of results features our first Canadian queens, as we count down all the queens that scored an average of between 3 and 4 points. 69 Molly Poppinz 3.00 I have nearly nothing to say about this queen. She didn't do it for me on DRDU2 and I think she got further than deserved based on what I saw. I like her drag name. Molly placed 4th on her season, winning the first episode and never again placing above safe, landing in the bottom 3 three times. Josh's score of 7 was the highest she picked up here. 68 Miss Moço 3.11 Perhaps best known as one of the cringe queens of CAN3, Miss Moço was the season's 2nd out and placed in the bottom 2 in both episodes she appeared in. Personally I thought she was better than the queen who knocked her out. 67 Orion Story 3.45 A slight jump up as we return to season 14 with stoner queen #1 of the season Orion Story. I think she was judged a little harshly for her looks on the season and she held her own in both of her lipsyncs, but Orion was clearly cast as filler. In the show's defence, her talent show performance was a hot mess, but I personally found her confused approach to drag endearingly awkward. Orion also holds the distinction of being the only queen in the season eliminated by Jorgeous despite her record 5 lipsyncs. 66 Copper Topp 3.71 Back to UK4 with a queen with another unfortunate edit. Copper was a theatre queen who the show didn't seem to have much interest in, cutting her loose in a convoluted route to bottom 2 in episode 3 where the queens were judged in pairs...until they weren't, placing Copper's partner Cheddar High for what was meant to be a collaborative challenge where the queens worked together to deliver a pair of complimentary looks. Et tu, Cheddar? 65 Aubrey Haive 3.71 Aubrey picked up one higher point score than any Copper received, putting her into the lead here despite the same average. She placed 9th in DRDU2 and was eliminated in what was in my opinion a somewhat rigged acting challenge. On Drag Race, imagine that! She's another with a delightfully punny drag name - at least, in an Aussie accent! 64 Stephanie Prince 3.82 Fresh off of Canada vs the World, Stephanie... maybe wasn't ready. She had a fairly typical All Stars run for an early out, placing roughly as she did on her original season. I enjoyed what she brought to the runways, but she struggled with speaking challenges on both of her seasons unfortunately. 63 Jada Shada Hudson 3.89 I don't have much to say about this queen unfortunately - in my opinion CAN3 dragged her to the finals despite a string of underwhelming performances in the season, not even anchored by any one undeniable standout over her fellow competitors. She did at least give us one great lipsync against Kaos in CAN3 E4 - but was that enough to ultimately place 2nd, edging out fan faves who performed stronger on the season? It's where we ended up though. Jaida Essence Hall remains unbothered imo. January 8, 20232 yr My thoughts on the first set of results Faux Fur - Not surprised she's last considering she was first out & didn't have a good edit & she was very annoying. Pomara Fifth - MEH very forgettable, don't remember her all that much TBH. Baga Chipz - I did like her on UKS1 (until the last couple of episodes), but on UKVSTW, unlikeable to the MAX and SHOULD have been in the bottom for that dreadful design look (which she didn't even make). Her only shining moment was Snatch Game, which came too late in the season and should have been on episode 2 or 3 & then Baga could have been a shocking early elimination, which would have made great TV as she wouldn't take it well & probably storm off the stage like she did on that 'Celebrity Karaoke Club'. Just May - Probably one of the most obvious first out's in Drag Race history, limited make-up skills & unpolished looks as well as basically giving up in the lipsync. June Jamblaya - She was nice, but needed a bit more fine tuning for 'Drag Race' & focus on the details.
January 8, 20232 yr The second set of results: Mary Poppinz - The 'Karen From Finance' of DRDU2, she should have went home in the Girl-Group challenge as Yuri won that lipsync in my opinion, then maybe I would have liked Molly better. Miss Moco - Don't remember much about this Queen, another forgettable early out. Orion Story - Yep I agree she was cast as a filler Queen, didn't find her makeup skills all that great & needed bigger eyelashes as her eyes look tiny. Although I will say that her talent show had potential, but yes it missed the mark & none of her other challenge performances were all that memorable in my opinion. Copper Topp - I do think she should have stuck around longer & didn't deserve her bottom 2 placement as it should have been Black Peppa & Jonbers Blonde. Considering there were several comedy challenges after her elimination, production obviously wanted her out as she could have potentially done well in them. Aubrey Haive - Nothing to say about this one sadly, I don't recall her at all. Probably the most forgotten Queen from DRDU 2. Stephanie Prince - It has been revealed that a lot of the cast on CVSTW weren't production's first choices & I think that Stephanie was one of them, it was far too soon for her comeback, despite some stunning runways she really struggled and again clapped back at advice in the first episode. Jada Shada Hudson - I'm actually surprised she's so low, okay she was dragged to the finals & didn't deserve 2nd place, but she was okay & did have a few standout moments like in the dance challenge which she won & the Cosmetic's commercial.
January 9, 20232 yr Author Back to Canada for the start of the next set as we also lose our first winner! Is it who you expected? 62 Halal Bae 4.33 Receiving mostly average scores is the first out of CAN3. Halal Bae framed herself on twitter as a robbed queen and alleged cultural insensitivies, but some thought her elimination was fairly fair and square. I quite enjoyed her on the season and I think the argument could be made either way. Pretty good for a first out. 61 Jujubee 4.40 This might have been a shocking result this time last year! (or a little before) But undeniably Juju had a pretty piss poor showing on UK vs the World, legitimately being one of the worst queens every single week and not even spending any money or conceptual time on her runways to pull up her average despite her great experience. Rumours abounded that she was contractually obliged to do the show and so took her runway stipend for personal use instead of putting it towards the show. Not sure I'd like to see her again on Drag Race tbh, maybe as a lipsync assassin to round out her time on the show. AS5 would have been a fond farewell lap for her. 60 Deja Skye 4.41 I'll give this to Deja, she went further than I expected on US14. I do think however she was lucky in some weeks to be the best of a bad bunch, or not quite bad enough to be in the bottom. I do also think she was robbed on the panels episode which she killed, however for me Deja's achilles heel was that she framed herself as a fashion queen and often I questioned her runways' relevance and/or her taste. I do forget that she came 6th in the season, but she did well to stand out with the powerhouse girls she was with to get that far imo. 59 Chelazon Laroux 4.44 Another Canadian queen, Chelazon repped her indigienous Canadian heritage on CAN3 and perhaps was unlucky to be eliminated when she was (another challenge where they competed in pairs but were only kinda judged in pairs). She picks up a high 7 and a low 0 here and most scores around the midway mark to derive her average. 58 Pixie Polite 4.50 Another top queen I already kinda forgot got that far, it's UK4's 5th-placing queen. Pixie had both a bit of a rough and a bit of a strange edit on the season, being given both an 'always the bridesmaid never the bride' storyline, eliminating the fan fave in a lipsync, but also being spared a few times when she had pretty ropey challenge performances (E1 and the design challenge in my opinion). It didn't really come together to create a fan fave. Since the show I've learned Pixie is a classically trained singer and there are panto and performance slots featuring her on youtube. This feels about right for her though. Pixie picked up mostly 5s as a score, decent. 57 Blu Hydrangea 4.80 And 17 queens in our first winner drops, another casualty of UK vs the World which now only has a handful of its cast to come. Blu had one of the most mixed voting results of any queen we ranked, picking up both three 10s and three -1s. I think an average of under 5 is a LITTLE inaccurate for her as to my mind she had a pretty good showing on UKvW, but she also played a shady game and eliminated the probable winner without strategising, so I can understand people deciding to punish her in the vote. I think while she did well on her second season, it was unfortunate that no challenge really played to her strengths in makeup and fashion design, although she did level up her comedy and performance to help her out. Blu was one of only two or three queens (Pangina, possibly Jimbo) that I thought actually took Uk vs the World seriously so for that reason I wasn't mad at her winning. Still not as bad as Trixie AS3. Any guesses on the next winner to bow out? Still to come: DRDU2 ♕♕♕♕♕♕ US14 ♕♕♕♕♕♕♕♕♕♕♕ UK4 ♕♕♕♕♕♕♕♕♕ UKvW ♕♕♕♕♕♕ CAN3 ♕♕♕♕♕♕♕♕♕ CANvW ♕♕♕♕♕♕♕♕ All Winners ♕♕♕♕♕♕♕♕
January 9, 20232 yr Blu gets far too much hate, it’s a shame. Also definitely agree with Jada getting dragged to the final of CS3.
January 10, 20232 yr Blu one of my worst queens of all time- cringy, try-hard and extremely annoying. Agreed and since she's come off UK Vs the world it's just got worse. Has a real sense of entitlement about her and just generally unlikeable. I remember being excited to see her on UK Vs the world but was ultimately let down massively by her attitude. Her drag is fine I guess lol, I didn't really see a massive glow up or anything.
January 10, 20232 yr i don’t get entitlement from her at all. if anything she seems quite unsure of herself sometimes. and comes across as a genuinely nice and enthusiastic person !
January 10, 20232 yr Halal Bae - The first queen with facial hair to appear on Drag Race & shame she went first as she seemed loveable and quite sweet. Jujubee - What a disappointment, didn't even try on the train-wreck that was 'UK Vs The World' & still somehow made it to the final. Her looks were tragic, her track record was tragic & even her 1 challenge win was questionable, her verse was much shorter than everybody else's. This just goes to show that production shouldn't force somebody on the show if they don't want to do it. Deja Skye - Despite lasting so long on such a neverending season she barely made any impression given the severe under edit she got. It was questionable that it took 9 episodes for her to finally win a challenge & that was only because everybody did worse than her. Controversial opinion I think that if Kornbread wasn't taken out by an injury then Deja would have been pushed out earlier, just my opinion. Chelazon Laroux - Another early out on Canada S3, not much to say really, she did show potential in EP 2 with that high placement, but then got eliminated in the following episode in that awful dance challenge. Pixie Polite - I feel bad for her as she could have had the season's most interesting storyline, but production did nothing with it & instead kept her in Danny's shadow with no pay-off. Blu Hydrangea - Liked her on UK S1, but not so much on 'UK Vs The World', dunno why I just couldn't connect with her & winning wasn't earned at all given her underwelnming run & how in the hell did she win 3 lipsyncs, she's one of the worst lipsyncers I've ever seen, she does the same tantrum throwing moves, awkward facial expressions & awful deathdrop. She didn't really excell in any of the challenges in my opinion, even in snatch game she was runner up to Baga & everybody else was awful.
January 11, 20232 yr Author 56 Kendall Gender 4.86 CAN2's runner-up and the first out of CANvW falls next with an average score of nearly 5. This is a fair showing for Kendall who made a few mistakes on her CANvW showing, but who was also hampered by the fact she was given half the time of the rest of the cast to prepare as she was a last-minute replacement for a dropout queen. Kendall had a mixed run on her original season but did pull it back at the finale with a killer rumix verse. I'd like to see her on a youtube show where she could show her personality more. 55 Starlet 4.88 Just above Kendall is UK4's goofy girlie. I think Starlet had potential as an unintentional cringe queen but I can't say I enjoyed her much on UK4 otherwise, she came across like she had a very high opinion of herself and while she was great at makeup she definitely had some flaws as well. (Also I really struggled with her accent). She picks up some decent 6 and 7 scores but my 1 pulls her down to here. 54 Rita Baga 5.0 Into the 5s and up now with another Canadian queen we've just seen on CANvW. Rita Baga's made the final on both her runs, but personally she's not my favourite. I don't necessarily have anything against her, but I don't understand the favouritism she received from the judges from both her seasons. Generally it's not something that appeals to me. I would say Rita's strength is comedy and performance, she can do a character well. Her design is decent but perhaps overpraised by some of the judges. I do think she beat Lemon fair and square in their CAN1 lipsync by getting the tone of the song better. I can't say much more about her on CANvW as I didn't finish the season after Icesis left, perhaps someone else can feed in? Rita received the same average as the next queen but is lower due to a negative 1 score which the next queen dodged. 53 Alyssa Hunter 5.0 Alyssa received no scores below 4 and no scores above 6, one of the most balanced sets outwith queens at the very top of the leaderboard. I think she has a good case for being a robbed queen of season 14 after performing well in the design challenge and not being recognised for it, and then being eliminated in a very fishy lipsync edit as a Latina queen performing a JLo song versus Kerri Colby who literally walked around the stage and posed. She was unfortunate to be cast in a strong season without much storyline. 52 Cheryl Hole 5.10 Cheryl nearly makes it into top 50! Queen of the Safe placements. We had the pleasure of Cheryl briefly on UK vs the World before she was eliminated second, defying early rumours that she dominated the season and had a full redemption. It's a shame they chose not to go that route with her I think, as well as to only cast her with girls from her existing season. Unfortunately she had quite an underwhelming run on UKvW, but she's still a queen I have a bit of affection for. Scores of 2 from Simon and elgornio pull down her average, but she still beats castnates Blu and Baga. 51 Beverly Killz 5.14 And now the start of us losing half of our remaining Down Under queens before we hit mid 5s. Despite DRDU2's huge glow-up on the first season it was still a bit of a messy Jessie compared to some of the other seasons this year and few of its queens made it into the higher echelons of the ranking. I think Beverly was a queen who could have been given more flowers by the show. Similar to Elektra Shock in the first season, she was a dancer with an underdog edit who tried her best to be a good leader. She never placed above Safe, but like Cheryl in UK1's girlgroup challenge was the best of her group and was just unlucky to be in the losers' group that week. Arguably Beverly also won all three of her lipsyncs, including the one where she went home. 50 Minnie Cooper 5.29 And next up, the queen who had an early rivalry with Beverly before she sent her home. Minnie Cooper was something of a surprise elimination when it happened, doing well her first three weeks and being one of few queens in the season to establish a strong rapport with Ru. However, she really dropped the ball her exit episode, trying to pull a comedy lipsync while dressed as a heelys-wearing clown to Lady Gaga. It was refreshing to see an older queen again on the show however in my opinion. 49 Kween Kong 5.29 Another tie broken by Kween Kong picking up some higher scores than Minnie rounds off this section. Kong ended the season as one of the two runners-up, but took her time to warm up, never placing above Safe for the first half of the series and then lipsyncing twice by the second half. I'm not sure she was the best served by some of the challenges in her season, and was also a rare queen to flop the design challenge but win the makeover. Kween Kong was memorable on the season for introducing an in her lipsyncs as well as for her challenge performances. She picks up a mix of high and low scores with a top of 9 and a bottom of 1 to derive her average. And with that we have only three from DRDU2 left! January 11, 20232 yr Madame Madness and Venedita Von Dash had facial hair on the show before Halal! I meant on the US/Canada edition of Drag Race
January 12, 20232 yr Author The last few now before we hit the top 40! 48 Le Fil 5.42 The first UK queen to exclusively use he/they pronouns in drag (yes Ru, Lawrence Chaney doesn't actually :/), Le Fil had a pretty good run on the latest UK season despite being quite underrated by the judges. I don't think they had any particularly bad challenge performances bar the episode they were eliminated in 7th, and their runways were especially by UK standards very deluxe and high-end looking. Le Fil picks up scores between 5 and 7 from most raters with a 2 from elgornio as their lowest received. 47 Jorgeous 5.59 From one 7th to another, next up is the queen with the most lipsyncs in the bottom 2 in any season of RuPaul's Drag Race to date. Jorgeous receives some scores as high as 9 but two negative 1s, including one of mine, pull her average down. I have to say this is one of the queens who does the least for me out of the whole franchise. I'll give that she's a decent dancer, but she doesn't particularly emote in the lipsyncs, her runways were so-so, and she seemed to have little interest in even trying at a lot of the challenges. Throughout US14 every week I questioned why she was even there as it seemed like she didn't really want to give it her all. Besides her performance on the show, she also irritated me during the season after she joked that Cynthia Lee Fontaine being in a car crash was a good thing, and the way she boasted about dropping out of high school. Ech. But she did manage to pick up some fans so out of respect to them I'll not drag her any further. I would I suppose be curious to see how she does if/when she returns for All Stars. 46 Kaos 5.61 CAN3's 4th out does quite well to get this high, picking up another run of mostly 5s to 7s from our voters. Kaos did pretty well on the season and was unlucky to fall into the bottom 2 when she did. She was also one of the most attractive out of drag on the season... uh, I think anyway. She placed high and safe until her exit episode and was another representation for indigenous queens. 45 Maddy Morphosis 5.91 Hi str8! Maddy was, I'm not ashamed to say, one of my favourite queens on US14 and I might have a bit of a crush as well It was quite fascinating watching from the UK to see the horror and near-revulsion that some US viewers and even fellow competitors had to the US franchise casting (gasp) a STRAIGHT PERSON who performed as a drag queen. The UK scene has always had straight performers and generally I don't think (perhaps more nowadays) correlates performance quite as closely to gender and/or sexual identity as the American scene seems to, so the reaction from this side of the pond seemed a bit overblown. I think it's unfortunate that Maddy was treated as a gag casting by the show as this imo downplayed her actual drag skills in comedy and marketing, as well as her tactical and leadership skills. On the flipside, some of her performance and particularly design skills definitely left something to be desired and she was fairly put in the bottom for them. Maddy picks up some scores as high as 10 but also a -1 from George, still, not a bad showing for an early out. 44 Anita Wigl'it 6.0 Our recently crowned (and first ever) double Miss Congeniality is the first queen to hit a 6 average. God bless her, Anita manages to stay very cheerful despite what's now two less than perfect runs on the show, being a robbed queen in her first season and then in her All Stars return not being present for any challenges that catered to her skillset - with the exception of Snatch Game where unfortunately she dropped the ball second time around after killing her first showing. Anita's a queen I have a soft spot for and is seen at her best on NZ Drag show House of Drag (available on youtube) which she co-hosts with DRDU1 winner Kita Mean. The show was filmed before Drag Race and features some familiar faces to the franchise. Anita also picks up a high of 10 and no scores below 3.5. 43 Bombae 6.06 Another CAN3 queen, this time another 7th placer (we're having quite a few in this section) with a rollercoaster run in the competition. Bombae placed either High or Low for most of her episodes in the competition, always bringing gorgeous runways but struggling a little in team challenges. She was actually eliminated in her season's branding challenge by the next queen to drop. 42 Irma Gerd 6.22 Irma was a charming and kooky queen on CAN3 who revealed a surprising strength at lipsyncs late in the competition. She was definitely a queen that I thought would be an early out going in but managed to make it to 6th place despite a few early Low placements. Irma's most memorable moments were her Snatch Game performance and her eye catching Sleeves and Paint By Numbers runways. 41 Yvie Oddly 6.23 And just before top 40 we finally crack into our All Winners cast. Picking up a run of 9s and 10s, some average scores, and also two negative 1s, Yvie Oddly is the lowest of the winners-only cast this time around. Yvie was I think underrated a little on the season, and didn't necessarily have the storyline prominence or praise that some of her challenges warranted in my opinion. One of the most memorable things about the season for me six months on is her Big Bad Wolf performance in the courtroom challenge, and I also enjoyed her design and marketing performances. To some extents All Winners 1 was confusing as it judged on what seemed sometimes to be a curve based on which queens it thought might resonate most with fans based on past performance. Better story production for another one, please! Still to come: DRDU2 ♕♕♕ US14 ♕♕♕♕♕♕♕♕ UK4 ♕♕♕♕♕♕♕ UKvW ♕♕♕♕♕ CAN3 ♕♕♕♕♕♕ CANvW ♕♕♕♕♕ All Winners ♕♕♕♕♕♕♕
