'Lola’s Theme' is so euphoric  I'd say it's the first song I gravitate to whenever the weather is really nice here

It really is, helped by that charming fairground video <3 It's not far off being the same for me, after Ace of Base's Life Is A Flower and the Dolcenera track I DNQ'd in BJSC with about five years ago

Yeah I feel like The Game Is Won was expected to do a lot better too, at least top 20, but landed in the lower top 40. I really feel like she deserved a lot better, but for the type of artist she was I guess she did ok, like you say the album did well - it was unlucky to peak at No.11 three times.

Between Somersault and World On Fire, you might just have the best two songs of 2004

Certainly both up there. Nice to see another World On Fire fan, what a sorely underrated/bascially unknown song that is.

Yay for Long Night and Out of the Blue.

I loved Long Night when I first heard it in 2005, such an amazing song.

Hoping some album tracks from Mistaken Identity charted in you top 2 in 2004/5. :)

I do recognise the Mousse T track but not as good or iconic as 'Horny' for me :kink: I think I've not properly heard much of Lucie Silvas music tbh but maybe that's one I can look into perhaps.

Oops, yeah Horny was iconic, and Sexbomb with Tom Jones of course

Lolas Theme

The 2 Natasha tracks are pretty decent too...

Forgot to mention the two Natasha tracks. These Words in particular, that was pretty popular in high school.

Glad to see some Natasha love. Good to hear she had some hits in Australia.

21/22: Delta Goodrem - Mistaken Identity (1 week at No.1)

I still remember picking up the Mistaken Identity album. I rushed out to Woolworths in Lewes, the town I went to college, in my lunchbreak and bought this and Kylie's Ultimate Kylie at the same time. I had my Discman with me and got my first chance to listen to the album on my train journey back later that day. I still remember walking down the steps to the platform the first time I heard this track and was completely in awe. Gone was the sweet, cheery, happy Delta, and here was a more gritty, mature, emphatic Delta who was channelling her inner Tori Amos more than ever. It felt like this album's Innocent Eyes type song, but a lot more dramatic and artistic than that, and I was obsessed.

It went straight to No.1 in my chart, knocking off Out Of The Blue, and quickly became an all-time favourite. Sadly it wasn't released as a single here - I doubt it would have worked in the UK market anyway, but its lack of release was maybe a response to its underwhelming No.7 peak in Australia, bringing to a close her strong run of consecutive chart toppers since Born To Try there. What a shame...

22/22: Delta Goodrem - Extraordinary Day (9 weeks at No.1)

Mistaken Identity only managed a week at the top, and that was because of this song. A track tucked away quite far into the album (on the UK edition, it appeared earlier on in the Aus edition which is on Spotify globally now), Extraordinary Day wormed its way into my head more slowly than the very instant title track but once it had me in its grip it didn't let go. Perhaps the most emotional, personal song Delta has ever recorded, she talks about July 8th 2003, the day she discovered she had cancer, and lays out the way she felt about the diagnosis, and how it would come to define her early career. Lyrically it's a gut punch, musically it is absolutely sublime - swirling strings, minor keys, the slow wailing fade of outro - you can really feel Delta's torment and anguish. I have seen this track described as filler on the album in the past and that physically pains me - it is a masterpiece that still sits within my top ten favourite songs of all-time.

Yay!! Loved Mistaken Identity (album)

Ha, that's great! I was in college by the time Natasha had arrived on the scene.

Almost - one more to come in 2005!

Such an incredible album, lyrically I was not expecting what I heard on the first listen - Electric Storm, Last Night On Earth, Extraordinary Day - all very dark but understandably so with what she'd been through.

Some great songs here:

3. Delta Goodrem - Throw It Away (2 weeks at #2)

6. Kylie Minogue - Red Blooded Woman (1 week at #2)

13. Girls Aloud - I’ll Stand By You (1 week at #2)

12. Dannii Minogue vs. Flower Power - You Won’t Forget About Me (4 weeks at #2)

Was the Dannii song much of a hit in Australia? It went top 10 here, but probably isn't well remembered. The Corrs song was a random one, I picked up the 2CD edition of In Blue in 2000 and it was on that.

Used to enjoy the Mousse T track in uni day bops, Lola’s Theme is a classic, What You’re Made Of is great and These Words is really really sweet.

Some great selections there - the Mousse T song is a bit of a forgotten great for me.
