She didnt even speak well, can she not speak these days or is she still wearing the grills?

Looked terrible.

Really? People are still "baffled" by Madonna's "new face"?

Hasn't this been done to death now?

Surely it's so six months ago to talk about Madonna's new face?

You have to love her.. she rocks up at the Grammy's looking.... not great, but it's as if she doesn't care (or is oblivious). She's still rocking the awful grills, and some of the photos from the night are just terrible. The memes on my social media, comparing her to Pete Burns are too many to mention. If she'd softened her face with her hair coming down, if she'd not worn the grills, people may be saying how good she looked. But, it's Madonna. She does what she wants, and I love that.

This oddness has just been going on too long. Reading between the lines, it feels like Universal may have dropped the M film project in part, because of the very odd social media posts these last 2 years.

I feel like she's honestly been gradually morphing into Pete Burns for about 3 years now, and with that the full transformation is finally complete.

Yeah, I mean, she's clearly passed the point where if she just stops messing with it, it'll settle unfortunately. I think she's done way more than fillers in the past few years. I guess she can lean into looking a bit weird and plastic-y like Cher's done, but I don't think Madonna has that amount of self-depreciation about herself. I think she just sees an imperfection at this point and tries to fix it, without really seeing the whole picture - it's kind of sad when you think about it, but it is what it is.

I just think it's sad what Madonna has done to herself. I know it's unfashionable to comment on people's looks but this is what happens when cosmetic surgery goes unchecked and you're surrounded by a load of 'yes people'. She's clearly not happy and is spiraling to a point of no return. She was so beautiful and confident but this complete transformation of her face to a point of near deformity has just left her a sad individual and shell of her former self. :(

Each time they write a hateful word

Dragging my soul into the dirt

I wanna die

I never admit it, but it hurts

Just because she's Madonna and a public figure, doesn't make it right for people to say nasty things about the way she looks.

If it was a member of the public who had cut their hair in a certain way, or wore particular clothes that were a bit out of the "ordinary" and everyone jumped on them and said nasty things, it wouldn't be right.

If it's a celebrity, it still isn't right.

I wouldn't say a perceived 'bad' haircut or dress sense is comparable to basically mutilating one's face though. No-one wants to read nasty things about themselves, but I don't think saying nothing at all is fair or kind either. If one of my friends was doing that to their face I would definitely be showing some concern.

Omg I can't unsee it now that you've said it!

Madonna has addressed the media attention surrounding her new look on instagram:

It was an honor for me to Introduce.

Kim Petras and Sam Smith at the Grammys. I had wanted to give the last award which was Album of the year, but I thought it was more important that I present the first trans- woman performing at the Grammys— a History making moment!! And on top of that she won a Grammy!! ♥️

Instead of focusing on what I said in my speech which was about giving thanks for the fearlessness of artists like Sam and Kim- Many people chose to only talk about Close-up photos of me Taken with a long lens camera By a press photographer that Would distort anyone’s face!!

Once again I am caught in the glare of ageism and misogyny That permeates the world we live in.

A world that refuses to celebrate women pass the age of 45 And feels the need to punish her If she continues to be strong willed, hard-working and adventurous.

I have never apologized for any of the creative choices I have made nor the way that I look or dress and I’m not going to start. I have been degraded by the media since the beginning of my career but I understand that this is all a test and I am happy to do the trailblazing so that all the women behind me can have an easier time in the years to come.

In the words of Beyonce “ You-won’t break my soul”,

I look forward to many more years of subversive behavior -pushing boundaries-Standing up to the patriarchy -and Most of all enjoying my life.

Bow down bitches! 💃🏼🪩🎤💄🎼👠

Still think she's missing the point. I love that she's fearless and creative and refuses to let age be a barrier to her, I just don't think she has to inject her face with poison. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

She's definitely missing the point. Growing old gracefully would be setting a much better example.

I think the very fact people are lambasting her for choices she has made regarding her own body and appearance is the exact point she's trying to make. I don't personally agree with her choices, but I respect her choice in making them. If she had decided to ''grow old gracefully'', they would be criticising her for how old she looks. She can't win, regardless of which avenue she decided to take.

It's part of a wider conversation around female ageing though, I think. Especially for those perceived as being sex symbols, or for whom their physical appeal is a large part of their success. If your career is built in full, or in part, on being desirable to others, then you have a binary choice forced upon you - either do nothing, and your career ebbs, or try and do whatever you can to stave off the aging process and cling on as long as you can. Madonna managed the latter for a long time, her first work during the Drowned World Tour was a huge success, so was the work in 2005 and 2008, but it only lasts so long.

The question of whether or not the work she has had done is making her happy is something else entirely. I really hope it is and that, whether we see it or not, she is happy with what she sees in the mirror. Ultimately though, I don't really think the choice was ever hers to be made. Not if she wanted to continue being Madonna into her 4th decade and beyond.

I wish people could express their disgust about society’s paedophilic beauty standards without resorting to attacking a woman for trying to slow down the aging process. I love Madonna, she has the freedom to make her own decisions, but I also find it sad and disgusting that there is so much value put in youth that makes people resort to unnecessary surgery to fight a natural process

I'm just on the page that people should be allowed to do what they want to do with their own appearance without keyboard warriors getting a cheap laugh out of it by mocking them over and again on social media and largely jumping on the bandwagon.

Well done to her for answering back!!

Hmm i'd actually argue many HERE are missing the point not Madonna herself. I think the narrative should be changed from "grow old gracefully" to "grow old being whoever you want to be and as long as you're not harming anyone YOU DO YOU"

Some of the vitriol I am seeing online towards her is disgusting. What about the barriers she is breaking being a woman in her mid-60s still embarking on humongous world tours, releasing albums and music videos? What about the inspiring words she has for women? As always the focus is on looks and outward appearances just like it has been for the past 4 decades.

I am so proud of her for speaking out and long may it continue.

I don't agree with the cruel comments about her but I still think it's just as cruel to pretend that this is okay. If this was my mother, I wouldn't be cheering her on, I'd be pleading with her to stop, stop destroying her beautiful face, and I think if people were being honest with themselves then they would feel the same. It does not look good, the people around her know it doesn't look good, but clearly they're all telling she looks amazing and she's a queen and she can do no wrong.

I can't be one of those people that says "as long as she's happy" or "as long as she's not harming anyone" because, in my mind, she doesn't look happy and she is harming herself and it makes me angry that there's a culture in Hollywood that makes people feel the need to do this and a culture that won't step in when someone clearly needs help.

What about the barriers she is breaking being a woman in her mid-60s still embarking on humongous world tours, releasing albums and music videos?

I'm sorry, but she is not "breaking any barriers". Cher is in her 70's and still recording, releasing albums and touring worldwide, not to mention the fact that her plastic surgeon is so much better than Madonna's. :coffee:

It can take more than one person to break a barrier? Just because Cher is doing similar things it doesn't take away from what Madonna is doing? With how vocal Madonna is about ageism I'd say she is undeniably trying to overcome stigma and barriers for people as she has done her entire career??
