BEING between record labels has not stopped ex-Little Mix singer Jesy Nelson ploughing on with solo material.

 

I can reveal the singer is to film the video for new song Bad Things, which is filmed in a retro East London setting.

 

Jesy wears a vintage outfit for the story, which sees her fall for a guy from the wrong side of the tracks.

 

A music source tells me: “Jesy loves being creative in her music videos and is throwing herself into channelling her mum, and playing the role of someone who falls in love with a guy who ends up in prison.

 

“It’s a really meaningful track for her and the lyrics are personal.”

 

I also revealed Jesy has filmed a video for upcoming song Cried Out, which she plans to release independently.

 

After her 2021 debut solo track Boyz, she parted ways with Polydor in July last year due to creative differences.

 

Jesy is now believed to be in talks with Warner Records about a potential partnership.

 

She’ll have plenty of musical ammo ready for when she finally seals a deal.

This is definitely going to go in the same vein as Boyz in terms of stereotyping, her team isn't smart enough to avoid this. If the guy "from the wrong side of the tracks" is black, she's going to get a whole wave of (deserved) criticism. She needs to stay away from these boring tropes, which in all honestly, given how public her relationships were, have never been true.

 

Her music should be a reflective look at her behaviour and mental health. Showing growth from her behaviour and talking about her mental health are the best things to get people on-board. Not recycling potentially offensive tropes that no one wants to hear. Her team constantly dropping tidbits that lead nowhere to The Sun is also jarring because her plans are changing behind the scenes.

JESY Nelson will act out her parents' toxic relationship in a heartbreaking new music video about cheating and gaslighting.

 

The former Little Mix singer's new song Bad Things, which is filmed in a retro East London setting, will give fans an insight into her family background.

 

Insiders have revealed exactly what will play out on-screen - and it gets very dark.

 

Jesy will play her mum in the music video after delving into her painful past for solo material.

 

A source told The Sun: "The video is set in the 1970s and is based around the story of how Jesy's mum met her dad.

 

"Jesy plays her mum and they shot in old East End pubs and a jazz club to recreate their love story.

 

"At first it's really romantic, but then you see him with his mistress, then her crying at home after he fails to come home for dinner.

 

"There are fights, gaslighting, shocking scenes.

 

"Fans will really see the real Jesy and understand a lot more about her family after this video."

 

It's not known whether her dad cheated in real life, or whether she's been creative with the music video.

 

But the 30-year-old has previously said her love of bad boys is linked to her dad John.

 

"Growing up my dad wasn't around", Jesy previously said.

 

"My dad wasn't the best, he was in and out of prison, so I haven't had many good men role models in my life, so maybe that's where it stems from.”

 

She continued: "When I see someone that looks a bit naughty, I am instantly drawn to them, and it's not good.

 

"If someone has a gold tooth I literally fall in love.”

 

It’s thought Jesy is still estranged from her father John.

I feel like we'll potentially get an announcement on Friday and it will be released next week?

 

Her and the Director of 'Bad Things' keep teasing in comments too. I mean at this stage she has two videos filmed...

 

Her Bake Off episode is on Sunday so that'll be a good bit of promo for her if it does come out within the next week or so.

I’m not expecting anything chart wise, I love Jesy’s voice so all I’m hoping is that I enjoy the song.

 

It’ll be extremely hard for her to chart well after the BOYZ mess, so I have no expectations. However, if it does chart that’d be amazing. I get people don’t like her but some people on Twitter and Popjustice are vile and just trolling her for merely existing, people need to just chill. Hoping people go into this with an open mind and give her a chance.
