11 March 2008 saw 'All I See' released as the North American lead single for 'X'. The R&B influenced song was an attempt by the record label to boost Kylie's image in the US and saw Kylie perform it on some major US shows. It failed to break the Billboard Hot 100, but did reach #3 on the US dance/club charts and #81 in Canada.

never listened to this and doubt i will again
A ‘made for America’ track - not one I revisit very often, the only think I liked about it at the time was that it was released as a cool promo CD in the US so was something else to collect
It's pretty garbage filler that isn't really worthy of being on the album, and also sounds exactly like Jordin Sparks' 'One Step At a Time' - one must assume it's by the same producer reusing the same track ala Ryan Tedder with Halo/Already Gone.

If you think about it, it's such a cliché. It's RnB so it would be popular in America!

Or so Parlophone thought.

It is the same writers/producers on both. Always found this song to be completely average, and easily weaker than One Step At A Time.

X is such a strange album, I guess we're so used to Kylie sticking with one sound each era - disco, dance, electro, country-pop, indie etc, that to have this weird grab bag of all these completely different styles on X felt very unusual for her, and not really in a good way. There's like half a perfect 10/10 album and half forgettable filler, but so many wonderful bonus tracks and b-sides that could have been used instead for a more cohesive, higher quality listen were left off.

It's an era I look back on quite fondly, due to the single choices, the goodwill surrounding her and just seeing her back on top and happy, some of the videos and live performances, and some of the bonus material, but the album itself was the weak link.

I agree i do look back on this era very fondly as the goodwill behind Kylie was so special, it was also a very emotional era as been a fan since the beginning it was just amazing seeing her back and looking so well after everything she had gone through, you just felt so proud of her and equally wanted to protect her. The album itself was/is frustrating as they had everything to make it one of her best albums but made some really bad choices with selecting the tracks that made the final cut.

I mean, X is pretty much a consequence of having such a long production time I assume - wasn't there like a three cd demo disc for it? Usually she experiments a bit at the beginning of the album production, but ends up choosing a path pretty quickly. I guess here because of the cancer diagnosis she ended up recording so sporidically that she just never got to the point of really sitting down and focusing on a "sound".

All I See is ok basically, but painfully average. When Kylie's actual successes in the US have been europop sounding songs it's always baffled me that they tried so hard to push her down an R&B sound when they attempted to have her succeed.

Exactly! It's things like this that sometimes genuinely lead me to conclude that record labels don't have a clue what they're doing.

I agree, her pop sound is all that ever done anything for her in the US so the r and b direction never made sense and also never worked.

I don’t mind this one actually, nit her best by a long way but also not her worst.

Never picked up on the similarities with One Step At A Time.

It’s not a good lead single. Hard to know what would have done well from x as the album is very mixed.

I don't mind 'All I See' on an isolated listen, but it had no right being on the album and I agree it's strange that the record company again pushed an American sound for Kylie as means of launching the album in the US. I find that the live performances do expose the song for being weak and Kylie doesn't particularly seem at ease performing it (the Dancing with the Stars performance being the biggest offender, even her styling is so un-Kylie).
