If anyone calls Cross My Heart plodding, I'll show you the exit door x

I really like this one :cheeseblock:

I like the R'n'B vibe of All in Love Is Fair! Get your ass on over here x

7 strikes me as being an album with some surprising sounds included on it... although there is certainly some cheesy pop tracks, tracks like this one feel like quite a pivot into more mature sounding tracks that you wouldn't necessarily expect from S Club 7. As a collection, I feel like there's a bit of a confused identity. Not that it did them any harm whatsoever, considering it's a #1 album and their best seller!

Love Train, another major bop and of course a Paul moment

I feel like a lot of pop bands have this sort of pick & mix style second album, where they're trying to keep the fans from the first album while branching out into new sounds and more mature styles at the same time. Usually by album three they've found more of a cohesive direction that is like a more grown up take on their sound, but not usually veering from style to style as much as the second album.

Fun fact: this is the first song to appear, including last week's listening party, not to get a TV show moment...! Not a major loss, it's one of the more forgettable songs on '7' but it's still pleasant.
Colour of Blue is v sweet sugar pop we all like from S Club

The TV show/pop band idea was a great marketing move, as much as it pains me to credit Simon Fuller for anything. We'd already heard many of these before the album came out so were more likely to want to grab it as it already felt familiar.

Cross My Heart isn't a big fave really but The Colour Of Blue was <3

Jo's voice really reminds me of Karen Carpenter on this song. Same with on Have You Ever.

It does plod though.

Definitely! I always feel like Spice Girls skipped that third step and that there should have been an album that bridged between Spiceworld and Forever. S Club 7 found a very nice balance with Sunshine!

Sort of makes me laugh that they have to put Jo on a very prominent backing vocal throughout the verse as if Tina's whisper vocal doesn't command the song enough itself.

Love the middle eight.
