I expected the YouTube views to be a lot higher…

I honestly didn’t expect anything from Youtube given the group’s recent past and the current state of Youtube.

Youtube is a dead format outside of a few sub genres.

It does, hence me thinking it sounds like a Misteeq song.

 

I struggle to see where it will fit in with todays charts and radio as it isn't like that early 2000 sound has had a come back like the 80s and 90s has.

 

There seems to be little hype for this. The cds and cheap downloads will get a decent first week peak but 8-29-47-68-out is looking a likely outcome right now.

How can you possibly say that when it's been out for 18 hours? We haven't even saw it's debut on Spotify yet!

It's an absolute ear worm! I love it so much. I think it's going to be a decent sized hit for her and I couldn't be happier :wub:

 

That video of Jade at the release party and Leigh saying "Jade... this girl has stood by me through frickin' everything" is so wonderful <3

I have just got around to watching the video (been extremely busy :drama:) and idk if it's everyone's reactions in here lowering it all for me, but I didn't think the video was anywhere near as bad as everyone said it is? :lol:

 

Idk, but I think it serves it's purpose as a music video perfectly! Sometimes simple is key. I'm getting really bored of heavy storyline driven music videos tbh. I only want a video for the song! That's exactly what I got. Maybe I'm just easy to please.

The video isn't 'bad' at all. It's perfectly serviceable for the most part but for me it's just way too dark. I'm not a fan of music videos in underground/nightclub/warehouse sort of environments where it just looks miserable and grimey and for the second chorus you can barely see her at all even though she's front and centre of the camera because of how bad the lighting is. Intentional or not it's just....weird choices to have so much darkness and dim lighting on a debut video when you're trying to show everyone who you are as a solo artist.

 

I think Leigh also raised expectations with the way she was describing how deep it was but really it's just her standing around or doing some (kinda weak) choreography before she jumps into the water.

 

It's more boring and uneventful than 'bad'.

Yeah, I get that tbh. Although, I actually quite like the 2nd chorus shot - I just don't think it should've been for the entire chorus :lol:

 

EDIT: Oh and I'm almost positive the ending where she jumps off the building "head first into the unknown" is just a bigger metaphor for "going solo". I need to analyse the video a bit when I rewatch, but yeah, I like it!

Yeah, i'm still not a fan of the video it could have been so much better.

 

It scares me when I remind myself that Leigh-Anne or Jade wanted Not A Pop Song as the lead single from Confetti, so I don't always trust their judgment :lol: Plus Perrie just said this is the best video ever which scares me. Leigh also said last night that LM always serve with their videos which was another not so true thing :lol:

 

I feel like even if they zoomed out a bit so we could see the settings properly and not just a zoomed shot of Leigh's stunning face. I wanted to see what was around her, what the scene was like, what she wearing fully and we just couldn't do that in some parts.

 

However, the important thing is the song is great!

Maybe I'm just out of touch, but I've never seen an artiste put in so much effort in explaining a music video a day before its release and on the day of release. She's even done a scene by scene dissection with BBC R1. Or is it all due to her rumoured imminent trip to America to promote the single?

Having said that, I think the video is good. Might have enjoyed it more if I hadn't seen all the explanations. I really like that she's sought of introducing herself as an individual via the video. Yes, It's not jaw-droppingly finger-licking good, but I wasn't expecting that. I would expect more visually from Jade (Gosh I hate that I'm having to compare). And to be honest, I'm not yet used to seeing each girl as a soloist. It always feels like something isn't complete - I hope it doesn't come across that way to the General Public.

On the contrary, the song itself sounds whole. My friend heard it today and thought it was a Little Mix song with all three/four girls.

I hope it does well for her.
