May 13, 20232 yr Was getting so hopeful with Finland smashing at the end there, but Loreen was never gonna do badly either. Congrats to Sweden, I didn't quite connect with this one, but they are masters of eurohits and I'm sure they'll put on a great show next year. I'll give the song a bit more time, certainly a great performance. Pleased to see Australia and Czechia in the top 10 (far too low on the televote for the former though?!), Italy much too high with that really dull song as well. Croatia was an easy standout and one I won't be forgetting soon so glad the public righted that jury performance. Real shame to see Serbia so low, I guess it was a bit too niche and Germany last (even with a decent score for that position) really doesn't feel right when they tried to stand out, they really feel quite cursed. Spain and France undeservedly bombing with the televote too, Italy doing the best out of the big 5 doesn't feel right :/ As for the UK, I always said it depended on the night and sadly, the performance just wasn't that good. I don't think the song really stood out much given there were some real experimental and memorable moments in this final too. It's nothing to moan about, we've clearly seen we can get it right and we didn't quite manage it this year, just got to move on and try again, this was a current sounding song from a current artist, we just really needed that solid performance which we didn't get, please let's all stay civil of this and not bicker over the next week, any of the usual nonsense will be deleted x
May 13, 20232 yr Well deserved for Loreen. It was the best song and her performance and vocals were incomparable in my opinion. Delighted! THIS!! Incomparable. The fimmicky Cha Cha Cha made me feel sick. Spain :( :( The TALENT!!!!! Such talent, one after the other!! Maybe if Loreen had been in the second half - for an even BIGGER share of thr vote, as she had an awful slot - then Spain would have done much better. It got totally overshadowed by the song that came after it, however :(
May 13, 20232 yr Author Spain :( :( The TALENT!!!!! Wait... I thought you hated Spain a couple of weeks ago :kink:
May 13, 20232 yr Wait... I thought you hated Spain a couple of weeks ago :kink: That was from listening to a 30 second clip!!! On second listen, I was like hmm. Third, I was SOLD!! Second best, easily. Glad the UK showed TASTE and pointed Spain, THREW POINTS AT LITHUANIA, ans gave Loreen some love, even though she had a terrible slot in the order :( Wonder if they tried to sabotage her with it...
May 13, 20232 yr Best vocals of this twelfth night: Loreen, Cyprus man, Sam Ryder, Lithuania woman, Spain's Blanca, no particular order. Worst vocal: Mae Muller, Poland woman, Cha Cha Cha man, Ukraine Lithuania puts me in mind of a worse Vera Lyn - One, Two, Where Are You? Might br a global hit, just like she had. Not gonna gloat, but told y'all that Vers Lyn was FAR BETTER, FAR BETTER!!! than their entry this year  Guess I was right. Again  #psychicbeaver
May 13, 20232 yr I hope I never have to see Mae sing ever again - second from bottom, and only because some of the juries clearly felt some sympathy. Hugely disappointing choice from the BBC / Tap management - go back to a public decision - Sam Ryder was a beautiful fluke. Love, you did write a song, a bloody awful one!!!!
May 13, 20232 yr 7/8 bottom 2 placings for Germany in the past 8 contests. 4 of them were last. Norway hold on to your last place record
May 13, 20232 yr Still waiting on the hot statz update but Australia allegedly won the second semi final!

Hugely disappointing choice from the BBC / Tap management - go back to a public decision - Sam Ryder was a beautiful fluke. Love, you did write a song, a bloody awful one!!!!  Omfg THIS!!! :cheeseblock: :cheeseblock: DIRE! Worst part is, not the embarrassment of the hosting nation putting out such a bad song, is that Tap management have reaaally badly damaged her launch. They shoulfs gone for Ellie!

Just get Sam back next year.
May 13, 20232 yr Just get Sam back next year. Did you see his performance?! Wow!! He woulda given Loreen a run for her money with that as a contestant :cheeseblock: Just a reminder I was RIGHT ABOUT GLOBAL HIT VERA LYN LAST YEAR, and I was RIGHT about them sending s song that's not a PATCH ON IT!!! this year, whereas BJ thought the opposite  Vera Lyn has the biggest global Eurovision song since ABBA!!! But not gonna gloat. #psychicbeaver Lithuania will be the brrskout hit this year - Loreen in Europe. Book.ark this.
May 13, 20232 yr Such good fun!! Gutted for Finland I loved them! My top 5: 1. Finland 2. Austria 3. Australia 4. Belgium 5. Sweden
May 13, 20232 yr Spain were horrid  ?!?!?!?! It's pure ART. ART!!! Actually feel really bad for Mae. I knew this was coming. A few of us did. She looked like she hsd thr timr of her life up there and seems really down to earth and friendly, but they should NEVER have launched her like this. Not every act is a live act. This tiktok song is fine for streaming and Love Island. Go for that - go for tiktok. Don't sabotage her launch like this. Not my cup of tea, but she ciulda had some success in the charts and festivals, like Mabel. Now... My top five: 1. SWEDEN!!! 2. Spain 3. Sam Ryder 4. Lithuania I think 5. Isrsel I think - those 2 can switch around 6. Maybe Cyprus now. Amazing voice
May 13, 20232 yr As many of you did not want to admit, horrendous song horrendous live performer, lack of personality = well deserved result. Shame as we could have turned the leaf with Sam yet we went straight back into absolutely dire
May 13, 20232 yr Greatest top 3 ever for me, I think! Amazing stuff! Loreen becoming the first woman to win the contest twice is so apt coz she’s such a superstar! I do think juries still have too much say though. So that sucks! But wooooo! I’m so so so happy!
May 13, 20232 yr As many of you did not want to admit, horrendous song horrendous live performer, lack of personality = well deserved result. Shame as we could have turned the leaf with Sam yet we went straight back into absolutely dire I SHOUTED that from the RAFTERS and got SILENCED for it!!! We had ELLIE BLOODY GOULDING AND CALVIN HARRIS IN THE RUNNING FOR IT!! It was a shocking choice. Birdy woulda been fantsstic too. Proven live singers. Don't throw somebody who's not a live singer to the wolves, brand new into her career. Shocking. Absolutely shocking decision. Cheryl Cole and Take That can't sing, but hsve been HUGE - and they would NEVER EVER have been launched via a live performance that focused just on their vocals. Ever. Blame BBC and Tap for the damage done to her career. Disgraceful. Poor Mae, but we saw it coming. AND!! The BBTap didn't even bother adjusting her performance when it CLEARLY wasn't working. Poland did alright with a similar, but better, song. Do the same, do the same!! Adjust. It's like they gave up?? Uff, Spain and Austria massively ROBBED. Dunno why no one vited for Aussies either. Omg the recap has Mae Muller's face crying on the screen behind her!!! Who came up with this entire performance?! Didn't they think about the optics if it came last...
May 13, 20232 yr I spent most of the night sitting at home annoyed that I’d completely failed to get anywhere near Liverpool and never had a chance (no tickets, which were too expensive anyway, and no trains able to get me there), and the end of it watching almost all my favourites completely die a death with the voting - my top 3 came 9th, 19th and last respectively. Loreen was in my top 10 but I can’t find myself particularly excited about a country who last won 8 years ago with a singer who already won 11 years ago, similar to how underwhelmed I’d have been had Russia won in 2016. I’ll be streaming the hell out of Solo anyway in the days ahead, the great 1998 summer hit that never was.
May 14, 20232 yr I know this issue comes up at this exact time every single year but I do think they need to consider how to present the results so the audience have a better understanding of the final results. So much time is spent on the jury results that it feels those represent how well the countries have done overall. It means you kind of miss countries who shoot up after the televote like Norway (yet again!!). I was surprised to see they came 5th after the poor jury votes. I know it’s more tense announcing it in this way but it does lose the impact of the final scoreboard! Gutted for Mae. She really doesn’t belong in the same category as some of our recent entries (and it makes me question how some of those did get more points). I hope the UK still gets behind her as she’s been amazing representation and I hope it doesn’t halt us in our tracks of getting proper artists and getting properly behind our acts!
