Welcome pop fans, this is the 13th edition of the Pop Forum Song Contest! :welcome:

The last contest, hosted in November 2022, was a theme of Latin bops, and it was won by Addy!, and this was the song that won it for him;



This time the theme is to explore remixes of pop songs. This can be either as a dance or electronic remix of a pop song, an acoustic or acapella or a remix featuring an additional artist not on the original song. Try to select an artist that has not had a major UK hit in recent times, and think of something that explores the concept of what a pop remix should encompass.

This contest is all about pop music, and so there are guidelines to follow to make sure this is a fair and enjoyable forum event by all;

• 1. The song must not have reached the top 100 in the UK chart.
  2. The Artists must not have an Artist Forum on BuzzJack.
  3. Any song that we feel is giving other songs an unfair advantage (eg, Sales) or somewhat fits the veto rules (popular on the forum) will still be vetoed.
  4. For this contest, we are intrigued by artists that are perhaps not known outside of their own country. We want to discover the best of pop.
  5. An artist will only get one entry per contest, so first come first served.
  6. The song must not have been a top 20 hit in another song contest on the site. However, a song that has previously been entered into these contests may still be vetoed.

All in the community are invited to take part. The deadline for entries is Friday 26th May 2023 at 23:59.

Please complete the Google Form to submit your chosen entry and please include the names of the artists, the song title, and a link to YouTube, and once approved by the moderators the confirmed list of entries will be posted soon after.

I would certainly suggest that a song with a different instrumentation to the original would be a remix which would be acceptable, so long as it’s not a completely different song altogether. :lol:

 

As for the Top 100 rule, there has generally been guidelines for entries in these contests to be outside the UK Top 100 chart, however, older songs that achieved that peak may not be as widely known amongst the BuzzJack community, so it would be on a case by case basis I would suggest. The final veto decisions would not be mine to make, it would come under the current pop moderators to decide.

Now I remember another entry which was a BJSC potential at one point naurrrrrrrr I'm having trouble deciding which one to go for now :unsure:

Rip my original choice was already a BJSC entry in its non-remixed form, I've found something else now that I'm even MORE excited about! Think this should be quite a good theme

Will try and think of something for this, but I'm not usually a fan of remixes. There are a few that I like etc.. but they're usually by the "cheap" artists :lol:
