It would be interesting to see Emma's numbers if all her music was available WW. It surely costs her a lot of streams especially for the Free Me album.

Her popular top 10 is almost exclusively A girl like me and My happy place bare Maybe and you can only assume that is down two her middle to albums losing loads of potential streams.

It bothers me so much. :( Mostly anyone who stumbles upon her music outside of the UK isn't going to be presented with her best work.

I very much doubt it. Although she promoted the album in Europe and America, it wasn't a hit. It didn't even chart anywhere outside of the UK.

Considering the UK is her main market, and was the only market for Free Me, I don't think she is losing a lot of streams. It's not like a First day of my life situation with Mel which is clearly in the top 10 thanks to streams in places like Germany, Austria, Sweden, Switzerland etc. Free Me didn't make any waves outside of the UK.

You are acting like any of what was a hit where matters in 2023, when as we know playlists are what matters. Maybe is a well known pop song in certain circles that wont be added to any playlists if it isn't available to play. It is also greyed out and not playable even on her own best of and this is playlists in most countries.

Maybe would be on loads of pride playlists etc. It wont get plays outside the UK from the Spice Girls songbook playlist too.

I'm certain Maybe would be well within the top 10 of this countdown if it was available to be streamed WW.

Would it? I genuinely have no idea what get's added to pride playlists, or how much the songs are played on them? Is It's raining men on many pride playlists? If not then I highly doubt Maybe would be a sure fire hit to be on any.

Nobody knows Emma’s discography outside the hardcore Spice gay fandom. It’s different for Geri and Melanie C. People might not know it’s them singing, but When You’re Gone, It’s Raining Men and I Turn To You are classics you find where they should be. The first one is still a fave of many radios across the globe, and it’s f***ing Bryan Adams, the second is a gay anthem (I listened to it in many gay clubs / Pride parades in Barcelona, Berlin, Rome), and ITTY you will hear it playing in many DJ sets across the globe especially in places like Pacha (see the million viewers dance cover versions on YouTube). Those might not be group-level of success, but are still massive hits, unlike Emma’s.

I somewhat disagree. I think What took you so long is somewhat well remembered across Europe too. I hear it from time to time on radio like ITTY and WYG.

Love that song. But it ain’t no Classic like WYG, it’s a UK #1 like many others - a regional hit. That doesn’t mean it’s less important, not at all. It has 19,121,981 streams - less than the other cited before, for a reason.

Again I'd somewhat disagree. FDOML is clearly a defining hit for Melanie C in Europe... and it is below WTYSL.

Maybe is not remembered by anyone outside the spice and gay fanbase!!

Its a shame as it definitely should be!

The track didnt even go top 5 :(

"What Took You So Long" is actually the one Spice solo song I hear from now and then on radio - take that for what you will. I don't think it's necessarily remembered hugely by the public, but it's a track that just has an inoffensive bland vibe going for it while also being incredibly catchy, hence why radio likes it (still).
yeah What Took You So Long and look at me and I turn to you they used to play them a lot even in KFC LOL

What Took You So Long and First Day Of My Life are the only ones I still listen to on the radio across Europe, I dont think ive heard Its Raining Men or I Turn To You in literally 10 years ah

Melanie's most played songs on Swiss radio stations are:

1. Never Be the Same Again

2. First Day of My Life

3. When You're Gone

The UK is still part of Europe ya know! I hear When you're gone, I turn to you, It's raining men and What took you so long from time to time.

I was in Majorca last summer for a fortnight and I heard Never be the same again twice, once from a radio playing in a restaurant, and once when walking through a shop
