Posted June 5, 20232 yr Taking off on TikTok, which is resulting in Sade's original receiving a huge streaming boost, the remix comes from a producer called Enzo who has confirmed his version is coming out soon. Preview Preview 4TYv2PhG89A
July 22, 20231 yr What happened to this then? I came across another version today released this week;
July 22, 20231 yr Author No idea! Thought the release had been approved so it's odd that it has disappeared completely
July 24, 20231 yr No idea! Thought the release had been approved so it's odd that it has disappeared completely Oops, I just noticed while searching for the song on Spotify... the UK release by Another Rhythm is disabled. Maybe there's a copyright issue... or a possible re-release by Sony (It seems the label owner of Sade's original)? However, you can still watch this video on Enzo YouTube Channel :unsure: nlm0WdIo0Gc Anyway, there was already a song called 'Smooth Operator' by Enzo from 2019 :wacko: Edited July 24, 20231 yr by JOTA
July 25, 20231 yr Author So Enzo posted an 'update' on TikTok saying he had to take the song down but gave no reasoning why so will have to assume it's to do with Sade/the rights to the track
July 25, 20231 yr So Enzo posted an 'update' on TikTok saying he had to take the song down but gave no reasoning why so will have to assume it's to do with Sade/the rights to the track Kind of a shame, wouldn’t have minded an uptempo version for the modern era.
July 25, 20231 yr Maybe they're trying to settle the rights so that Sade will have equal billing? Could be, but then how is it other cheap knockoffs like the one I shared below are able to slip through the loop? Maybe it will get taken down too in time but even though it is a slightly different production does it not have to get permission from the original artist to be sampled if this is indeed the case? I came across another version today released this week; Anyway, whoever this Enzo guy is, it’s definitely not the same as that 2019 version JOTA posted before.
July 25, 20231 yr In actual fact, just in Summer 2023 alone, in addition to the one quoted in the last post, the following versions have appeared on Spotify; In fact there is easily loads of other versions released just in June and July of this year alone but I chose to stop there. So what’s causing all of these knockoffs? How do they get away with uploading their versions when the so called “official” version gets supposedly taken down? :unsure:
July 25, 20231 yr Author They're essentially cashing in on Enzo's success on TikTok. In a similar way to the random cover versions we used to get on iTunes that would take precedence before a track was officially released these are the same kind of thing. They'll probably get taken down eventually or just simply fall through the cracks. Enzo's was probably targeted for being such a hyped version in the first place. In all honesty, Enzo had tweaked the vocal from his TikTok edit using Sade to altered vocals for this release so I'm not sure what the problem is as it would just be a dance cover version at that point.
July 25, 20231 yr I prefer the Alex Iva version to the Enzo one because of the bassline! It seems more like Endor Pump It Up/Acraze Do it to it. The Luke Madness one is a very Rough Operator :lol: Edited July 25, 20231 yr by TheSnake
