Posted June 20, 20232 yr https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-65881813 A bit late with this but Paul McCartney has confirmed that a “final Beatles record” will release this year, utilising AI to isolate vocals from a 1978 recording of John Lennon. It’s believed to be called ‘Now and Then’, and is set for release at some point this year.
June 20, 20232 yr If it's as good as 'Free As A Bird' and 'Real Love' then I'm totally here for it. Interested to hear how the vocals will sound - obviously they were a bit tinny on those two songs but will AI make them sound more authentic?
October 26, 20231 yr @1717530657277001791 Yay! The release of ‘Free As A Bird’ and ‘Real Love’ predated my birth so it feels exciting to finally witness a ‘new’ Beatles release for the first time. I became a huge fan in November 2013 (I remember a specific chain of events leading to this, so can pinpoint when), so it’s neat that this will be happening after exactly 10 years of being a fan. ❤️ There’s quite a few formats for the single - multiple vinyl options and I saw a cassette. The Blue and Red compilations are getting a 2023 update as well including pressings of those exact colours. Not sure what to expect from the song but I think ‘Free As A Bird’ is underrated from their last trip back to the vault, so hoping to enjoy this one too. It’s like the 60s with The Rolling Stones gunning for the #1 album this week and a new Beatles single next week
October 26, 20231 yr Author Physical singles are out in the first week too, I wonder how high it can chart?
October 28, 20231 yr Author A short documentary about the song's creation is coming to Disney+ on November 1st! f_XM2v-qSr4
October 30, 20231 yr Physical singles are out in the first week too, I wonder how high it can chart? That certainly makes things more exciting! I wonder how many copies they're pressing?
November 2, 20231 yr Author Out at 2pm today! Somewhat surprisingly, Radio 1 have confirmed that it’s their Hottest Record tonight with Clara interviewing Paul!
November 2, 20231 yr Oh wow, I had heard that the song is premiering on Scott Mills' Radio 2 show but didn't imagine Radio 1 getting on board, even with the magnitude of the last Beatles song :o I saw the TV premiere of the documentary last night and it was quite emotional hearing a snippet of John's isolated vocals and watching the creation of the song progress over the years. Looking forward to hearing it in full in a matter of hours!
November 2, 20231 yr Love it, full on wistful John, and theyve done a nice job - it fits in well with Free As A Bird and Real Love sonically and mood-wise, and all of them pretty much fit with Starting Over, Woman, Beautiful Boy, Watching The Wheels, Nobody Told Me period John. Given it wasnt a song he'd bothered to record for his 1980 comeback, I think he'd have been pleased and it's not much near the bottom-end of tracks they did during their career, it's better than a good chunk on second hearing. In my personal charts this will be the first time The Beatles & The Stones have been in my charts with new songs since I was 11-years-old. That'll be 1969 then! The Stones had a Dylan cover when Free As A Bird came out, but their last self-written song was Honky Tonk Woman with Ballad Of John & Yoko for the Fabs.
November 2, 20231 yr It felt very wholesome texting my grandad today about a ‘new’ music release  50 years between us but both hyped for this! I’ve only had a background listen at work when it premiered, so need to properly immerse myself with headphones later, but the clean up sounds very well done - really impressed with Peter Jackson’s recent involvement with Beatles projects. I felt a bit emotional when Paul opened the song with his counting in because that’s how their very first album starts, with ‘I Saw Her Standing There’ and now this is how their last released song opens too. The song sounded solid on first listen, not top tier Beatles or anything but I’m satisfied enough, it felt magical to hear Lennon and McCartney on a song together again, albeit 1978 John and 2022 Paul! The instrumental is pretty haunting as well. Intrigued to see where this will chart. I ordered a blue 7” vinyl variant the other day to help out :P
November 2, 20231 yr Author I like it. Why not release it at midnight though? The publicity I suppose. So many radio stations premiered it live at 2pm, and Paul was on Radio 1 this evening. And probably other things too.
November 2, 20231 yr Heard this twice on Radio 1 while getting ready to go out  it's getting better each listen, really lovely. Crazy that it's already #14 on Apple Music. Interested to see how it holds up post-curiosity streams but that's an amazing start.
