'Flaunt It' not hitting the UK seemed quite baffling to me seeing as it spent so long at the top end of the AUS chart and I was there at the time, shame about that as it fit in with the electro house trend going on at the time.

Another huge AUS dance hit that hasn't been yet mentioned here, 'My People' by The Presets is another that annoyingly wasn't a UK hit so likewise most on the forum aren't aware of it.

Vanessa Amorosi - One Thing Leads To Another (2002)

This single was released in Europe, but not in Australia.

I loved 'Absolutely Everybody' and this is pretty good from her too after just listening now. I can hear Anastacia a lot in this one tbh. The video gives 'I'm Outta Love' and then Vanessa's singing is very Anastacia esque too!

'Absolutely Everybody' is so nostalgic, to my ears it sounds more Cuban-Floridan Gloria Estefan than Australian.

Megahit of 2008 Sam Sparro - Black and Gold hasn't been mentioned yet on here, epic pop tune.

"This Is Who I Am" was her best song.

It seems that actress / singer combination was popular in Australia. There is another one.

Bec Cartwright - All Seats Taken (Top 10 hit in 2002)

Another Aussie star from Neighbours Stephanie Mcintosh who played Sky Mangel. She had a little career. Can't remember if she had more success past 2006/7 though?

I've got her album and thought it was pretty good in a Veronicas/P!nk-lite fashion.

The singles were great, loved So Do I Say Sorry and Mistake.

I loved Tightrope the single at the time. I remember being disappointed it didn’t do as well as Mistake.

Paul Mac - The Sound Of Breaking Up feat Peta Morris

2001 - Paul McDermott or better known as Paul Mac is an Australian music producer who found fame in the early 2000's with 2 top 40 albums and 3 top 30 singles. One of those, The Sound Of Breaking Up was the third single released form his first album 3000 Feet High. The Sound Of Breaking Up was released in Australia in October 2001 and reached a peak on #25 on the ARIA Singles Chart. The singe that preceded this Just The Thing (also featuring Peta Morris) would be his highest peaking single reaching #17. I preferred this one myself which I why I chose to include it here. Also the music video is on YouTube but i found the audio of it on his official YouTube was better quality. :)

The Veronicas - When It All Falls Apart

2006 - Next up is one I'm sure a fair portion of BuzzJack will be familiar with, well with the artist anyway. The Veronicas, consisting of twin sisters Lisa & Jessica Origliasso from Queensland Australia who found fame in Australia with their 2005 debut single 4Ever. Over the course of their career to date they have notched up 10 top 10 singles, 6 top 5 singles and three #1 singles. Today I've chosen to shed a light on the #7 hit When It All Falls Apart. Released in March 2006 as the third single from their debut album The Secret Life Of... it continued their run of top 10 hits following on the pervious two singles 4Ever and Everything I'm Not. Whilst they had much bigger hits (4Ever, Hook Me Up, Untouched) I've chosen this one as it seems a little more forgotten.

Kate Alexa - My Day Will Come

2005 - My Day Will come was a 2005 single by Kate Alexa, the daughter of Australian music promoter Michael Gudinski. Released as her second single it would chart at #24 in Australia, I remember liking this at the time and it being on radio and tv a fair bit too. Whilst I don't have the same fond affections for it now it's still a very nice of it's time song. Kate did go on to have slightly bigger success with her 2006 single All I Hear which peaked at #9.

Guy Sebastian - Who's That Girl ft Eve

2010 - Making his second appearance in this thread is the first winner of Australian Idol, Guy Sebastian. This time we're taking a look at his 2010 song Who's That Girl featuring American singer/rapper Eve which served as the lead single from his first greatest Hits album titled Twenty Ten. Despite debuting at #11 on the ARIA singles chart it would go on to become Guy's fifth #1 single as a solo artist. The song would also go on to reach #1 in New Zealand.

Shannon Noll - Learn To Fly

2004 - From one Australian Idol contestant to another, and this time it's the runner up to Guy Sebastian it's Shannon Noll. For the early stages following the first series of Australian Idol you could make the case that runner up Shannon Noll was having more chart success than winner Guy, having his first five single chart at #1, #4, #1, #2 and #1. Today I've chosen the second of those three #1's. Learn To Fly was a cover with the original coming from British boy band A1 in 2002. This completely passed me by at the time but is one I've started to enjoy now.

Scandal'Us - Me, Myself & I

2001 - In 2001 Australia had the second series of the hit reality show Popstars. Jason Bird, Daniela Scala, Tamara Jaber, Simon Dicham & Anna Belperio would be chosen from all those that auditioned and go on to form Scandal'Us. Only releasing two singles and one album the group failed to live up to the success that was expected of them and from what came before with previous Popstars winners Bardot. Although they didn't last very long they did manage to hit #1 with this single and it was certified 2x Platinum. A guilty pleasure for me that is on one of my 00's throwback playlists.
