From the early 00's we had a music show called Popworld air on Channel 4 on Sunday mornings at 10.30am. Hosted by Simon Amstell and Miquita Oliver who brought some great and iconic interviews and performances.

I found myself hooked to watching it back then for a few years mainly from 01-03!

Some performances from Britney, GA and others below

I didn’t really like Simon Amstel to be honest. Was the sarcastic thing a persona or was he really just a bell end?

I think that was just his form of humour and tv talk in general as he went onto present Never Mind The Buzzcocks as well.

I loved it too, some of the interviews and features were hilarious, it was a bit like the humour of the website Popjustice but on TV. Simon was very droll and knew how to wind people up, but was hilarious, and Miquita bounced off him really well but came across as super professional considering how young she was when she started.

Didn't Leigh Francis (aka Keith Lemon) get his break on this show too as a character called Barry?

I quite liked it when I watched it. I love Simon Amstell

Just scrolling through some of these and I spotted one interview is still up featuring someone extremely problematic oops.

I loved Popworld! Simon was hilarious!! There were quite a few awkward interviews  S Club 7 walking off after being asked about their pay (or was it CD:UK?), Darren Hayes being asked about his sexuality and getting upset, Avril really not getting Simon’s humour. I also remember Simon interviewing Amy Winehouse in 2004 (before her image revamp) and their friendship was super cute.

Had a look through out of curiosity to see who you mean. Is it Holly V? Or somebody worse than that?

A massive clue would be sharing the same name as a Steps member!

Here's a 2004 interview with Amy!

Oh god I totally forgot about him. :puke:

Yes that's the Amy thing I meant. Love how they are shamelessly promoting her around London.

I absolutely love the part of that video where she throws a brick at Dido's album billboard and shouts "I hate you Dido"

It's forever etched in my mind.

Omg this

I never really "got" Popworld as a kid so was never inclined to watch it but now I've seen clips since as an adult and the humour is what made it all.

Also found an 5ive interview that took place from 06 despite their split years prior.

Would've liked something like this back tbh if we couldn't get TOTP!
