July 16, 20232 yr Alcarez looks so far ahead of everyone else in terms of other players on the circuit (taking Djokovic away). Wonder if he is in for a real period of dominace from here on in!
July 16, 20232 yr I knew he would win it although I wanted Novak to win because he’s running out of opportunities now. Alcarez is ridiculously good. I actually predicted Novak would win the first set as he’s older then Alcarez would take it from there with more stamina. But Djokovic was great too fighting back!
July 16, 20232 yr Author First time since Lleyton Hewitt in 2002 that someone outside of the 'Big Four' has won Wimbledon.
July 17, 20232 yr great game and glad Alcaraz won in the end wouldn't have predicted it after the disastrous first set
July 17, 20232 yr A fantastic battle and the better player on the day won it. Definitely didn't see it coming I thought Novak would still be pretty comfortably clear on this surface but Alcaraz's grass court game has improved exponentially this year. I wonder if we're now gonna see Novak get stuck at #23 and unable to match Court's all time record just like Serena did. You have to say, injuries permitting, Alcaraz does indeed seem set to dominate men's tennis as it stands since all of his peers are someway behind. Would be hilarious if we skipped the entire 1990s decade and go straight from the big 3 winning everything to Alca!
July 17, 20232 yr A first Wimbledon win for Alcaraz, and the first ever unseeded win in the women's event - a pretty interesting year at Wimbledon overall!
