I think she may be the first artist to have 2 #1s from two different movie soundtracks.

I think Olivia Newton John did it! The Grease songs (plural?) and then 'Xanadu'!
This has to be the most overrated song of the year (so far). It lacks melody.

Oh yes my mistake of course Olivia Newton-John did it first.

Then Billie the first artist to do it without a feature?

Probably! It's funny though because we've had one of each option now...

Olivia Newton-John managed it 2 x with collaborations (Summer Nights w/ John Travolta & Xanadu w/ Electric Light Orchestra)

Whitney Houston managed it 1 x solo and then the 2nd time as a collaboration (I Will Always Love You & When You Believe w/ Mariah Carey)

Billie Eilish has managed it 2 x solo (No Time To Die & What Was I Made For)

Are there any other ones or are these the only 3? (Also - strictly talking about songs made with intent for the movie, not songs that featured in movies after they were hits etc..)

The Beatles, Cliff Richard and/or Elvis Presley all may technically count? (Not sure how many of their #1s were featured in their films).

Although those were all films that they starred in so a little different to Billie's achievement.

Just saw that Madonna has 3 as well. 'Into The Groove' from 'Desperately Seeking Susan', 'Who's That Girl' (from the movie of the same name) & 'American Pie' (from 'The Next Best Thing')
While I’d be here for retconning When You Believe into being a #1 smash for Whitney and Mariah, it actually peaked at #4!

NO IT DIDN'T!!!!

omg

I always thought that was a huge number 1... wth!!!

EDIT: Most the others even though I knew they were number 1's, I checked them *just in case* but assumed I KNEW 'When You Believe' was a number 1 smash here! LMAO :selena:

Well... the Leon Jackson version was a #1 hit :kink:

The original 'When You Believe didn't even have that great a chart run entering at 4 then falling to 14 the next week. And I don't recall it being played much on the radio.

Did even worse in US - only peaked at 15 there despite the artists involved!

Winner of Golden Globe for Best Original Song.

Billie now a 2x winner! Really hope that Academy Award is hers as well.

Can easily see this getting a few more awards too - fully deserved though it’s one of her if not her very best.

Also wins Song of the Year. Her GRAMMY tally now stands at 9! I hope this can get a new US peak but the UK definitely had taste making it a #1. The US run sort of gives Shallow vibes so far.

She’s won the Academy Award for this as well!

2X Oscar Winner and officially the youngest 2X winner in history. Absolutely deserved  what an insane accomplishment to get! From the minute I first heard this song I’ve fallen in love with it and felt this was going to happen for her. Stunning it now just needs that top ten peak in the US.
