August 25, 20231 yr I know it has its big fans and I really appreciate it as an autobiographical piece but there's certainly a few tracks I'd have put above this.
August 27, 20231 yr Author Love 'Easy Ride'! Didn't realise how polarising it was, looking at the results. It's a great album closer with its mood and its message. It follows on nicely from 'Die Another Day' with the string section. I wouldn't have been surprised if 'American Life' had missed the Top 5 tbh. Must be unusual for a lead single to appear as low as #5 in an album rate. It's not the strongest of lead singles when you compare it to all her others, but it is the perfect lead single for this album and what Madonna was hoping to achieve with this era. I like the clash of the aggressive electronic squelches and the sweet acoustic sound of the guitar.

September 4, 20231 yr Really happy Nothing Fails has topped this! A great choice, so powerful and beautiful  On such an abrasive album, it makes it all the more special too. The rest of the top 3 is great too!
September 8, 20231 yr Author Nothing Fails is my favourite so I’m pleased with that result, although I’d have been happy with Die Another Day winning too. It’s a refreshing, modern take on the Bond sound and I think it fits well on the album too. Love those sinister strings at the beginning! I always say it but Nothing Fails really should have been pushed properly as the third worldwide single, Madonna usually gets the singles just right but this stands out as a big missed opportunity. It’s moving and heartfelt, much more of an easy listen following the more abrasive sounds of the earlier two singles and the choir recalls classic Madonna.
