Biography

“I think there’s a time in every artist’s life [when] they have to do something that isn’t for fans, isn’t for success, isn’t for touring,” Miley Cyrus told Apple Music in 2018. Cyrus could’ve been speaking about any number of moments from her profoundly varied career. Born Destiny Hope Cyrus—the daughter of country singer Billy Ray Cyrus—in Tennessee in 1992, the innovative artist has hardly stayed in one lane for more than a single album since she broke from the bubblegum pop that catapulted her to stardom as Disney’s Hannah Montana. Her 2009 summer anthem “Party In the U.S.A.” earned her a rapid ascent within the pop world, where 2013’s Bangerz—which showcased her musical maturity with “Wrecking Ball” and experimented with elements of Dirty South hip-hop—made her an icon. Vocal about her pansexuality and love for marijuana, Cyrus has worked hard to shed her wholesome teen image, and simultaneously defied odds by earning a reputation for an intense work ethic and an unshakable self-assuredness. She headed to left-field with the psych-tinged 2015 album Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz, a collaboration with members of The Flaming Lips, and with 2017’s Younger Now, a countrified pop offering that featured godmother Dolly Parton. And she's teamed up with rappers Mike Will Made It and will.i.am, Sarah Barthel of electronic rock group Phantogram, and, in 2018, Mark Ronson for the dramatic hit single “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart.” Those frequent partnerships have been major catalysts in the creation of Cyrus' diverse catalog and in the cementing of her status as a pop pace-setter by refusing to let it, or herself, be easily defined. - Apple Music

If I never hear Flowers again it'll be too soon

Be nice if 'Flowers' could be skipped just once, I am beyond bored of it

Flowers is a great record in general but it has been severely overplayed that I am sick of it.

Biography

Singer Byron Messia has one of the biggest dancehall songs at present with Talibans and what's more has recently signed a multi-album deal with Interscope Records. Released in January, Talibans was produced by Ztekk Records and Ej Fya. Its official video has racked up more than 18 million views on YouTube. The 23-year-old artiste, who was born in Jamaica, resides in St Kitts and Nevis. Talibans has been added to hundreds of playlists globally and has become a must-play song at local and international dancehall parties. Byron Messia's credibility as an artiste has skyrocketed after various videos and pictures emerged online with him in studio with the likes of Popcaan, Burna Boy, Bobby Shmurda, and Prince Swanny. He has also collaborated with local artistes such as Govana and Jahshii and says this is only the beginning, as he plans to dominate the global musical space with a melting pot of fresh sounds and thought-provoking topics. "I'm trying to help black people, 'Wake up and understand what is going on," so that they can win at life. Within a year from now I want to win a Grammy, which is ironic because it feels like just yesterday I was on the streets with no money. Now I am living my dream," the artiste told the Jamaica Observer. Byron Messia recently released the album No Love. Vent, Smallest Circle and MOCA are among his recent releases. - Jamaica Observer

Talibans coming for the title of longest running chart hit to never get a chart play then

there's a Burna Boy remix of it this week so could be heading for top 20 now

Another one, like 'React' I'd be so glad to never hear again.

Talibans coming for the title of longest running chart hit to never get a chart play then

Shouldn't have named it a offensive title.

Glad don’t have here Harry styles as it was

Giving Me was nice when I first heard it but it has aged terribly for me over the last few weeks. Can't stand it anymore.

Biography

Calvin Harris

Talk about an unexpected career trajectory. In 2007, 23-year-old Calvin Harris released I Created Disco, a cheeky shot across dance music’s bow that presented him as Scotland’s brow-arched answer to LCD Soundsystem. Fast-forward a few years, and the scruffy fellow playing house-party host in the “Merrymaking at My Place” video is suddenly baring oil-slicked abs on Emporio Armani billboards. What happened, of course, is that Harris (born Adam Richard Wiles in 1984) traded up from the Amiga computer of his teens, developed some of the best studio chops in the business with deep-house rollers like 2013's “Thinking About You”, and helped spark EDM’s pop crossover with hits for Rihanna, Florence Welch, Ellie Goulding and others. Along the way, he became one of the 2010s’ first DJ/producer/songwriter polymaths to earn top billing even on the songs in which he didn’t sing. No stranger to pyro-lit main stages—his percussive, synth-strafed 2014 single “C.U.B.A.” is big-room house at its most gargantuan—Harris has resisted getting boxed into any one sound. On 2017’s Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1, he lays down a set of slinky R&B jams for Frank Ocean, Migos and Young Thug, while the 2018 singles “Promises”, with Sam Smith, and “One Kiss”, with Dua Lipa, proved just how versatile his vision of pop can be. - Apple Music

Ellie Goulding

Ellie Goulding's breakthrough was nothing if not decisive. She rose to stardom in 2010 with her debut album, Lights, which earned the Critics’ Choice prize at the Brit Awards and led the BBC’s “Sound of…” poll. She’s only the second artist to win both in the same year, sharing the honour with none other than Adele. The Hereford-born singer started performing and composing as a young girl, influenced by the likes of Joni Mitchell and Kate Bush, then teamed with Lights producer Starsmith while still a student at the University of Kent. The collaboration helped elevate Goulding’s natural talents as a singer-songwriter, turning her into an electropop phenom as she blended acoustic guitars and dance-floor-ready beats on “Starry Eyes” and the Bjork-evoking “Under the Sheets”. Her biggest moment came in 2015 with “Love Me Like You Do”, the power ballad from the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack that sold millions and cemented her as a world-class pop star. In addition to going platinum with her albums Halcyon and Delirium, Goulding’s versatility with genres and lyricism has made her an in-demand collaborator, working on “Return to Love” with classical tenor Andrea Bocelli, the club hit "I Need Your Love" with producer Calvin Harris and the 2019 break-up anthem "Hate Me" with Juice WRLD. What’s next for Goulding’s career? To quote the title of another of her 2012 hits, “anything could happen.” - Apple Music

I mean 'Last Night' never got played when it charted earlier this year. I believe it went for 8 weeks without being played!

and Talibans is likely to have a lengthier run than Last Night so my point stands

Has As It Was completely dropped out, or is it still to come

Miracle has dropped off quite quickly in the last few weeks - will likely be beaten by Sprinter (as well as Flowers obviously) in the year end chart now I think

Has As It Was completely dropped out, or is it still to come

Must've dropped out, it was #40 in Wednesday's mids
